According to the documentation for the missile complex, there SHOULD be different variants of the Vikhr missiles for different vehicles currently in-game, For example KA-50 is able to use only the base version of the vikhr, with range limited to only 8km (to those saying 5-6km at night time, it is indeed true but not usually noted because that’s the statistic while using low-power low-visibility channel which is used for purposes of stealth and not usually used in combat conditions due to the limited range and redundancy), however the vikhr on the KA-52, Su-25T and Mi-28NM are Vikhr-M variants released in 1990 and have increased firing range to 10km but ALSO use a more advanced Shkval-M firing complex which allows simultaneous tracking of up to 4 targets in “automatic mode”, while in-game that is realised as launching more than 1 at the same target within 4 seconds, which IS indeed possible, but currently you can only track only 1 (instead of 4) targets in-game which cuts the potential of the missile and the firing complex very much. On top of that the height ceiling for launching the missile is 4km which should be represented in-game as well.
Differences between base, M variant, and (in case gaijin implements it) Vikhr-1 of the Vikhr —
Range: 8km base, 10km M variant 12-14km (depending on height) Vikhr-1
Speed: 600 M/s, 600 M/s M variant, 610m/s Vikhr-1
Armour pentetration: 800mm RHA equivalent base variant, 1000mm RHA equivalent for both M and Vikhr-1
So gaijin, you’d effectively make vikhr more viable in top tier, make FCS matter in helis by implementing acquisition of more than 1 target, nerf it in lower br KA-50, AND make the game more historically accurate by introducing variants of the missile like in real life (instead of mixing statistics of all 3 variants into one frankenstein missile), therefore hitting all the pain points the community wants to address, tell me what you think!

ka52 doesnt need more buffs. With some altitude you can reliably hit targets at 9.5km. Only issue I find with the vikhr is the overall penetration. Pretty much all top tier helicopters lack FCS and are fankenstein’ed
Would be good for Ka-52 to bring it to SPIKE ER standards, along with SPIKE improvements. BR upticks for all involved.
Ka-50 wouldn’t get it so there’s no reason to nerf the Ka-50 when it won’t change.

There is no Vikhr-M missile, that’s the name of the complex. Also the guided missile Vikhr and Vikhr-1 will not differ in any way for the game, -1 is a designation that the missile began to be produced by a new manufacturer, namely Kalashnikov Concern.
Vikhr-M is name of system which uses 9M127 (9А4172К) Vikhr-1 missile, simplifying: these are two names of same thing. And only thing should be done is fixing of missile’s name.
