1.5k games and I haven’t gotten it once
or even lower lmao. i have been a little too optimistic because i dont play much of top tier air for a while. Just came back to grind the F2000 AESA and F-18E
Placebo
A placebo (/pləˈsiːboʊ/ plə-SEE-boh) can be roughly defined as a sham medical treatment.[1][2] Common placebos include inert tablets (like sugar pills), inert injections (like saline), sham surgery,[3] and other procedures.[4]
Placebos are used in randomized clinical trials to test the efficacy of medical treatments. In a placebo-controlled trial, any change in the control group is known as the placebo response, and the difference between this and the result of no treatment is the placebo effect.[5] Placebos in clinical trials should ideally be indistinguishable from so-called verum treatments under investigation, except for the latter’s particular hypothesized medicinal effect.[6] This is to shield test participants (with their consent) from knowing who is getting the placebo and who is getting the treatment under test, as patients’ and clinicians’ expectations of efficacy can influence results.[7][8]
oh good we’re rolling out the lowest common denominator matters more argument now.
Not everyone has the luxury of having most of the vehicles they want. If 8v8 becomes a thing, it wouldn’t really affect me. But you’re gonna alienate a ton of players from grinding further than their favorite top tier jet if rewards doesn’t get touched.
Anyway, it’s a classic War Thunder player moment where they don’t even realize the implementation of 8v8 would genuinely ruin top tier’s economy. They are so blinded by the desire to change what frustrates them that they are willing to put the game’s economy in jeopardy without even thinking about it.
I genuinely don’t get what your argument is here, because some players are bad, we should keep the current top tier format that makes everyone miserable? Just so they can maybe bomb a bit more?
Wtf are you talking about, “top tier economy”? Whu-huh? I guess you’re talking about RP being tied to time in game and short matches lowering rewards, but 8v8 would arguably make matches longer by stretching out late game where fewer players remain, so again, wth are you waffling on about.
The game’s economy is the best it’s been in years lmao? I left before locked on came online and it was so much worse, planes costing up to 40k to repair, rewards in the 5 digits for good matches without premium time, etc. Now you can grind a whole tree by playing somewhat frequently in a couple months, that NEVER happened back then.
edit: this post is only offensive if you’re thin skinned and can’t defend your arguments properly, sorry bubba, stop flag spamming.
If 8v8 becomes a thing, raise the vehicles multipliers proportionally to the amount of SL/RP I’m potentially losing because you people are incapable to position yourselves in a 12v12/16v16 environment.
oh good we’re rolling out the we can screw ourselves for the sake of gameplay argument now.
I rarely stat shame, but looking at your profile it’s obvious I know how to play in 12v12/16v16 and you don’t. In fact most players asking for smaller lobbies also know how to play in 16v16, we just find it boring as hell because snowballs are predictable and repetitive.
8v8 would likely allow bad players a bit more room to experiment and slowly learn from their mistakes since fewer players on screen would allow them to analyze what’s going on and where they messed up.
Couldn’t care less about who you are, John Doe.
The maxim should be to protect the economic progress that has been made, not to be so stupid as to facilitate monetization for Gaijin.
Anyway, go to sim if ARBs continous RWR pinging is so unbeareable, don’t screw up the game’s economy over a whim, or at least propose something to compensate (as I did).
They’ll keep grinding but in a different way.
If A2A combat takes a hit to it’s RP/SL per hour, people might just start base bombing which would be much more lucrative than before, as they’ll have to deal with 50% less competition for bases all the while having 50% less enemies to worry about.
At this point the same group of people would go around the forum demanding Gaijin to limit the number of planes that carry bombs/rockets in a match, as they’re sick of having 80% of their team just beeline to the nearest enemy base, while they’re dogfighting three enemies all alone lol.
Gaijin might listen and impose a limit they’ve asked for, but then that might introduce imbalance in the MM because people want to grind more effectively with their base bombers, causing long queues which would naturally be a complaint of the same group of people. This thing might go on for who knows how long until we reach the point of ARB being even bigger cesspool than before, gameplay wise, with even worse rewards.
8v8 simply isn’t viable before ARB has some major reworks.
don’t bother replying, they’re just going to flag your post and run.
I’ve been thinking about this a little bit since I read it yesterday and im still on the fence. I see your concerns but I also can see the argument for the exact opposite.
Below average players:
Pros:
- Less enemies to defend against
- More small engagements (allowing players to focus on 1-2 threats at a time)
Cons:
- Less support/help from teammates
- More small engagements (forcing higher skill per fight)
Grind/Rewards:
Pros:
- More consistant matches, potentially actually getting 1-2 kills every game rather than potentially dying to overwhelming numbers and potentially getting no kills in larger matches
- Greater oppotunity for multirole
- Shorter matches = more matches
Cons:
- Physically less potential kills per matches
- Less chance to get skill bonus
- potentially Shorter matches = less potential activity reward per match (I have had 16v16 matches end incredibly quickly before)
So… in conclusion. I dont necessarily think the change would be inherrently bad for a new/bad player PoV. But from a reward one it could be an issue, though whether a straight reward increase is the only solution, im not sure. Improving the gamemode itself, like enhancing the multirole objectives, could achieve similar affects.
I prefer the more laid back 16v16 myself.
I’m not one to enjoy e-sports player counts myself.
I really like being another team mate putting in something than seeking anything else.
It’s far easier for me to manage awareness than it is for me to manage e-sports level of play.
Saying that bad players will benefit from 1v1s is absolutely nonsensical.
Bad players want the chaos as there’s a bigger chance to catch someone off guard as they spam dozen of their missiles into the furball.
I’m actually agreeing with him.
Honestly making it so that the matchmaker puts 8 players against another 8 players is only going to cause more problems than you are looking to solve. The games will become more about maximising the first BVR engagements, shortening each match and making it harder for individual aircraft to get kills.
Superior airframes such as the Eurofighter and the Rafale will dominate and often soak up all of the kills, especially with the current state of the game. This is a problem, I agree, but reducing the amount of players on each team isn’t the way to solve it.
As opposed to the current model where they do the same thing? Seriously what even is the argument here, all I see is vagueposting that “the economy will die” and that grinding will be impossible like ???
I’m so confused
what im trying to say is that yes, whilst unbalanced aircraft will always be unbalanced, changing the matchmaker will just underline this issue.
I suppose the argument could be made that the main counter to a Typhoon or Rafale at the moment, at least for less capable players, is just to hit them with overwhelming force from multiple players.
In a small, 1v1 environment, they can lean into their strengths far more than in a large multi-aircraft vs multi-aircraft fight where something like the F-15 can perform exceptionally well providing hit and run supporting fire.
