7.7 vs 8.7 Battleships, 4-6 people on each team, invisible shells and playing against the sun - can this game get any worse?

I really cannot understand gaijin’s reasoning here. I don’t play battleships much anymore, except when I have a big 300%+ RP booster.
Just had a “typical” match where the game starts with just 4+ players, yet still they have a 1.0 BR spread. In this case I was in 7.7 against almost everybody with 8.0+… all the way up to 8.7… that’s on open ocean… aaaand exactly against the sun. Never mind that I’m still grinding the upgrades as well. Huh, what kind of logic is this. What is the point of this match except being a fodder for someone else, just because they look at you?

The only kill I got was some magic anti-air AI of mine with 1-2 small guns that somehow managed… to kill a bot battleship. Meanwhile I shoot a broadside 12-gun salvo with my shells going in 3 different directions and I’m lucky to hit enemy with 3 of these shells while scratching some paint only way too often.

I can spend minutes shelling someone, getting bunch of hits and then POOF the enemy dies and I GET NOTHING. No kill, no assist, just nothing.

What takes the cake is the enemy shells that are often invisible. You just swim one moment, the next you are either on fire or dead. AI shells are falling non-stop and you get to a point that you just ignore them. Well, then out of nowhere, no visible incoming fire with my view against the sun, especially, here comes USS Iowa against my 7.7 battleship… and 1 shoots me. No, there were no visible incoming shells. 1 moment I was shooting at some closest bot, the next moment my ship explodes and sinks. There goes my 300%+ RP booster.

What is even the point of all of this??? You call this a game? How can you have so little people on each team, yet still have this pathetic 1.0 BR spread? I’ve had matches before that there were just 3 people on each team and still 1.0 BR spread (of course I was bottom BR). I’ve had so many pointless matches like this. Gaijin, why stop at 1.0 BR spread, you might as well go with 2.0 or 3.0 BR spread. The outcome will be the same anyway.

The sun thing is the easy part to fix, yet gaijin cannot even do that. How many more years do we have to suffer (read: less income) when assists are not being counted? How can you do 50 assists BP task when in many matches I’m lucky to get just ONE?

Gaijin, why do you fundamentally change the gameplay, yet “forget” to adjust BP and event tasks requirements? I see so many battleship games when people have a hard time breaking 800 gaming points, yet they need 40,000-45,000 every 2 days for the event.

The full 1.0 uptier to 8.7 is not just a poor game design. It also minimizes bottom BR people’s income, as even bots are hardened battleships like Sovietskiy Soyuz.

Last 12 months in Naval have been a total disaster. One screwup after another by gaijin. Funny how the aiming director becomes drunk (RNG Thunder) in certain matches and your shells fall anywhere, but the target. Meanwhile other ships have tight grouping and 1-shoot you. This is not a game I signed up for more than 13 years ago. Mostly stopped playing tanks and planes due to endless steamroll losses due to poor match maker design (or is it some nefarious design, as it was too persistent?) and now even Naval is in the gutter. I don’t know why I even bother with this game anymore. What is the point of playing, if the match maker does not make any sense? How many more matches do I have to play where one team is shifted up by 0.3 BR and is top heavy while my team is all bottom heavy? What do you think the outcome of that match was? What are you doing, gaijin???

As it is, if you play battleships, what is even the point of playing anything else besides 8.7 Sov. Soyuz or Iowa? The gameplay overall is pretty sad. Stupid sun in your face, everything always hazy, smoke and splashing water everywhere, allied ships smoke blocking your view, so you cannot even see the blurry target in the far distance. Yep, this is a nice way to mess up your customers’ eyesight. Well, at least these stupid foggy maps, where you could not see anything, do not happen all the time as they used to. I might as well play Super Nintendo. At least graphics there were not so messed up as here.

One quick stop-gap fix for all these game design fails would be to limit the top 2 Tiers to 0.7 BR spread. Why are 8.7 top dogs stomping 7.7 players when there are just 3-6 or even 8 players on each team? Bot games need to be limited to that 0.7 BR spread.

How many years do we have to stare at these vaseline smeared, milky screens? The target is always some blob in the distance. This gets old really fast.

While it’s not a fix: you can utilize the smoke from your smokestacks to see incoming fire in third person.

Yep, that’s how silly this game has become. Just like seeing ground units markers through my plane wing because they have nerfed direct visibility of ground units. Even the markers blend with the background. 3rd person view in tanks is crappy now too.

The Diff between 7.0 and 8.0 is cosmic.

Depends on the ship because HMS Prince of Wales is garbage for an 8.0.

While it’s painfully mid at 7.3.
