sounds like an aim issue
i mean yes they are inferior to 20mms up there but they are far from useless
I will say that all .50cal pure incendiary bullets definitely need some help, to put it lightly. In a confined space an aircraft weapon incendiary acts sorta like an explosive, with a TNT equivalency of 0.3-0.5x the same mass of TNT. Currently the various pure incendiary bullets of US 12.7mm M2 and M3 Brownings, as well as similar bullets for the Finnish Lkk/42 12.7mm guns, seem to do basically nothing whatsoever. As do various “IT” and “I” bullets on larger-caliber guns despite having many times more filler per bullet such as MK108 pure incendiary bullets.
Also, apparently .50cal HE and HEI bullets do exist from WW2 eras, but they were never adopted due to mechanical unreliability which War Thunder doesn’t model on any gun.
It’s hilarious you’re asking for buffs on the best guns for starting fires which are also conveniently the easiest to aim as well.
also wtf are you even trying to say about the 30mm mk108, no dude a 12.7 isn’t comparable lmao
someone clearly has not used pure incendiary rounds
they do absolutely nothing no matter what gun is firing them
which is especially relevant to 0.50s because IRL M23 was much more effective than M20, and in game 0.50s have a belt option that is half M23 and half API, but due to the bugged nature of incendiary that belt option is much less effective than it should be
May I present the solution to your problem:

Live footage of these belts being fired:

was real shatter fine because you could just use AP belts?
no it wasnt
so why are you trying to say that incendiary rounds doing no damage (the type of rounds the US army air force found to be most effective) is fine because you have a belt type with none of them
the humble tracer belt:
was real shatter fine because you could just use AP belts?
no it wasnt
so why are you trying to say that incendiary rounds doing no damage (the type of rounds the US army air force found to be most effective) is fine because you have a belt type with none of them
no belts you’d actually want to use have incendiary rounds in enough quantities to matter
AP ammo doesn’t explode
APIT and API can set plenty of fires effortlessly
do I have to copy and paste it again because you cant bother reading?
because you in no way addressed the fact that incendiary rounds do not do damage in game (and this applies to more weapons than just 50 cals)
yea
but yk why that argument fails
cuz apit is actually like stupidly op in props while ap in 20mm sucks
so pls cope somewhere else
so uhhh
how exactly does that fix incendiary rounds being bugged and not doing damage?
because they still dont even if you use APIT rounds
how about you take your own advice
because you are coping so hard about APIT you are trying to downplay/ignore a very obvious bug on a completely different ammo type
I already know incendiary rounds do no damage. I simply don’t use them and you should do the same.
ok
so next time real shatter comes back just use AP
because according to you its fine that a round type is bugged and does no damage as long as you have a different ammo type
can you wrap your head around the idea that bugs should be fixed?
then like report it and stop coping about it here?
does APIT do worse than what I would? no lol
does realshatter 1.0 HE do much worse than AP? yes
if I wanted to fire AP i would get a plane with .50s
umm
about that
IRL the US found I was more effective than APIT…
so its the same situation of the theoretically better round being worse in game due to a bug
alr
then just nerf apit ig if you want I to be better than it
but 50cals dont need a round thats even better than APIT balance wise in this game
sounds like an APIT nerf is needed since it’s already an amazing belt and even deals great structural damage, far more than you’d expect a single 12.7mm hole to make
