To get most of the necessary modifications on the BMP-2, it would require around 46,700 RP, which if you get around 2000 RP every match (basically completely stock), it would take you 23.35 battles to get those necessary modifications to perform almost up to par to if it were spaded. Even at 100 battles, or slightly more, those 23 games where you underperform because of it not being a spaded vehicle is a somewhat significant portion of those 100 battles.

But I do agree that once it’s at somewhere around 200 or so battles, the time you spent spading it out, and the subsequent KD that resulted from it, becomes relatively insignificant, like in this person’s case.

Nice defense of the 2S38.
However, it’s no where near as good as HSTVL so it should always be 1.0 BR below it.
And Strf 9040C is as good as 2S38 against tanks missing their 200mm turret rings.

Edit: Me when I remember VCC-80/60 exists and is currently 9.0 instead of 9.3/9.7.

HSTVL is 2x faster to 50KPH.
18.6% more top speed.
22% more pen.
2S38 has 82.16% of the pen of HSTVL.
84.34% of the top speed.

Some examples of light tanks with similar or more similarities than those two:
AMX-13-90:
7.7, 61kph top speed, 18.6hp/t, non-stabilized, 320mm penning HEATFS round. Reloads fastest among these.

Ru-251:
7.3, 80kph top speed, 25.9hp/t, non-stab, 320mm penning HEATFS round.

C13 T90:
7.0, 70kph top speed, 25.2hp/t, non-stabilized, 250mm penning HEATFS round.

T92:
7.0, 57kph top speed, 20.12hp/t, non-stab, 254mm penning HEATFS round.

leKPz M41:
6.7, 72kph top speed, 21.64hp/t, non-stab, 254mm penning HEATFS round.

Pbv 501:
6.7, 65kph top speed, 25.07hp/t, non-stab, 300mm penning HEATFS round.

Yeah, my belief that HSTVL is 1.0 stronger than 2S38 stands on its own without looking at those light tanks; those light tanks however make my belief stronger.
And AMX-13-90 is a good light tank at 7.7, not over-BR’d.

Definitely getting the Ru 251 for my 7.7 German lineup next sale.

You are comparing unstabilized vehicles with 0 armor or survivability. To the 2S38.

The HSTV-L is not particularly impressive, and the 2S38 can be much deadlier in the right hands. I have seen entire teams held off by one braincell owning player who owns said vehicle.

You replied to the wrong person.
VCC-80/60, Begleit, and Strf 9040C are stabilized, as [uselessly] armored, and as fast as the 2S38.
No where did I ever do what you claimed.
HSTVL is superior to your precious 2S38 by far. Far easier to use than 2S38 too.

As someone who owns all of those vehicles, you are taking the piss. The 9040C is extremely easy to one tap, the armor is meaningless, and even autocannons will easily kill it.

The unmanned turret makes the 2S38 infinitely more survivable than any of those IFVs. The Strf9040C is also very slow, comparatively. The test drive 2S38 moves better than my spaded 9040c, while also having a far superior gun, better optics, better thermals, IRST tracking, and better proxy fuze.

Yes, 2S38 and Strf 9040C are easy to one tap, even autocannons kill them.
IRT and proxy fuse doesn’t impact BR.

In the context of an IFV, it does. It is a useful advantage, and affects the tank’s overall performance, which affects its BR slightly. Tracking and proxy shells allow it to very easily kill any helis that get close, and allow for it to kill inattentive planes.

If you say, “it has the AA capabilities of a 9.X SPAA,” I will say that that is better than nearly no AA capabilities to begin with.

Good players have an identical KDR in it as their Strf 9040C.
And both allegedly have KDRs around 1:1.

For one thing, that is not the Zak-57 I’m referring to, has a different muzzlebreak, different barrel shroud, and ultimately even if the breech was that small, the assembly, traversal system, and autoloader that it has in the 2S38 would take up most of the turret space, and thus would not be that tiny.

Well this these features/details are just russian bias.

  • classfied as light vehicle instead of SPAA.
  • same reload speed as 40mm systems
  • no drawback from single-feed system
  • lowest repair cost
  • HE-VT instead of HE-TF
