I’ve just noticed that the Object 268, 2S19M1 and M2 use the same APHEBC shell (BR-540B). So please tell me how the same shell on 2S19M1/M2 has less penetration, considering that the howitsers have in that regard a more powerfull gun compared to the shorter barrel of the 268. Doesnt make sense to me becouse the same shell on the howitser variants should technically be more powerfull becouse of the higher breach pressure and longer barrels of the 2S19M1 and the M2 variant that has a even longer barrel with a even sturdier breach.

The velocity is the main reason why the penetration value is differente, from 760 m/s to 610 m/s will obviously cause lower penetration power despite being the exact same ammunition, which is why, this is the reason considering that the calculation may take in account velocity as well.

Makes sense yes, but still wondering how it can be slower considering that the 2s19 can handle higher breach pressure and has a longer barrel than the 268. Ofcourse correct me if im wrong in this matter.
