With planes getting more and more missiles it’s honestly rng majority of the time to not get 3rd partied or be overwhelmed with multiple people because your teammates get eliminated on the first wave of missiles. It’s difficult to play an extended amount of time without frustration setting in. 12v12 or 8v8 matches are far more enjoyable and help players learn top tier mechanics such as rwr. It is quite easy to be overwhelmed in 16v16, planes with MAW have even more sound added to rwr warnings. We need several game modes with different player counts and perhaps different maps for these player sizes. I understand servers may have increased load and cost but it’s worth the investment, all players involved win, and I think gaijin as well.
@S_U_P_R_E_M_E
16v16 is why I can play top BR air RB, without 16v16 the skill ceiling is too high for me. There’s a reason I don’t play Counter Strike, or tournaments in WT.
16v16 requires less of my own personal skill which while good, is not good enough for smaller matches.
Smaller matches hurt the average player more than it hurts me of course.
Servers don’t host individual matches, they host many matches at once.
It should never be a permanent game mode… just go play tournaments if you want to test your skill.
I do play tournaments matter a fact and have placed in high placements in many tournaments. I understand there are the average players who may have bought top tier premium jets and have not fully learned top tier mechanics and may just want easier quick kills, but I think it should be a separate mode entirely, maybe not removed. There are many players who don’t agree with this game style gaijin has set. TSS is only on certain days and times and I wish it was a permanent game mode. I can almost assure players will flock to this because it will give them an actual chance to improve within the game constantly and not have to go to a whole different website to play on certain days primarily only the weekends for jet strikes.
The game used to actually be 12v12 only and then they introduced 16v16 matches. I’d argue you learn a lot more about how to play the game in smaller matches.
I also understand the concept of servers the reason I mentioned this is because my hunch as to why gaijin may not want to do this is because if they did the servers would have to handle many more matches and increases load and cost to maintain, BUT It’s a win win solution for all the players but gaijin does not want to spend money on this and rather funnel all players into a 16v16 and get the occasional small lobby.
It should also be mentioned that TSS is not as casual as random battles.
There are many players sweating for their own rates. Also, desync is very bad for players living in Asia and Oceania because the tournament basically hosts only in the EU.
Lower player counts is hyper-competitive as-is.
Demanding lower player counts means you want the game mode to be less approachable.
Agreed time zones and hosting are very difficult for folks in Asia, I specifically remember in the air superiority tournament my team played in, the team we went against was from China I believe they were playing at around 11pm at night through 1am! And I had to get up pretty early to play a very fun and competitive 4v4 tournament. TSS honestly needs to be incorporated within Warthunder itself and not a 3rd party site. Though I think this is probably a road map development item for them I would hope.
And many players learnt how that was worse in a few matches after 16v16 became the default.
Currently gaijin either needs to reduce player counts, or spread players out more.
My experience playing the EFT is quite often just flying for 90 seconds, hearing my rwr/maws go off for the next 4 minutes until I die because the match ended in a 1v6.
That’s not reasons why TSS is not casual.
We had one ranked battle back then, and while there were far more players participating than in TSS, it was not casual at all, and the top of the rankings were literally flooded with TSS players.
Luckily I somehow managed to make it into the top 100, but I never want to do that again because game experience was literally same as TSS.
Also sim control was really annoying but, it is offtopic.
I’d honestly argue the opposite man, 12v12, 8v8 is not hyper competitive. It actually allows players to strategize and defend/attack enemy players. How is someone new or doesn’t play much of top tier supposed to approach 16v16 when they are being constantly overwhelmed with missiles coming for them from players up high and players low. How is this approachable and fun? Top tier is about strategy and counter play balance.
Probably It will be hyper competitive from 5vs5, 6vs6 and lower.
My friend has a project to host custom battles using an external website and I have participated in several of their tests.(I assume you know who has that project)
It was basically ban AAM and using Korean War era jets to play 5v5 and 6v6, but it was very competitive but, compare to that and 12v12 in random battles, 12v12 aren’t that hyper competitive.
No it doesn’t, cause there are less allies to give you that opportunity.
The amount of missiles on you stays the same, but the amount of allies drops.
Fewer allies also mean fewer enemies.
Fewer enemies means more spread out fights, and more opportunity for BVR at top tier. At lower BRs it means the furball will be more spread out, and it leads to longer and more tactful matches.
In the context of top tier, removing 4 players on each team would remove anywhere between 16 and 32 ARH missiles.
I really want changes for high tiers in air rb but I need to be honest smaller matches won’t help much. What I noticed from the few days back when they tested the severe damage mechanic I can say all that happens is that the match end even faster and you get less RP out of that. Yes they are slightly more fun but they got boring really quick because 1 plane had enough missiles to destroy a full team. Also half your team will go bombing bases and its just a matter of who has more players who activly engage players and try to kill them.
The current psituation of top tier is just sad to me. I really want to enjoy these cool modern jets but I feel like the addition of ARH wasn’t great. And that is the part. Modern weapon systems aren’t made to be in a game they are made to destroy enemy targets reliably which is the current issue. With ARh you put yourself at a save distance but you can still attack the enemy without taking any risk and thats where the fun ends (for me atleast)
The problem is most games on severe damage test was 6vs6.
I would refer you to my other posts on the topic here, but 5v5 or 6v6, while still interesting but, is actually too competitive and therefore not very desirable.
12vs12 can be both casual without being overly competitive than necessary.
Same. Devs may just say go to customs but i agree. But this way the stock grind is super hard so ppl buy GE so Gaijin makes more money. It’s business
I mean I already made a post about a 2v2 dogfight event without missiles. Only guns but as all my suggestions post it didn’t got accepted…
