11.0-11.3 premiums are not worth the money because of MIG-23ML

At BR 11.0-11.3, 8 out of 10 games are played against MiG-23MLs equipped with Doppler radar and R-24R missiles. On top of that, it has better speed than most, if not all, vehicles at this BR.

Flying low doesn’t help because the target can lock onto you if it’s above, and on some maps, terrain and trees prevent you from going that low.

Some planes, like the Canard, don’t even have RWR launch detection to spot incoming missiles that can be fired from beyond visual range.

Even if spotted, at 4-6km range missile is more difficult to notch than other missilles at this BR.

In my opinion, due to the number of higher tiers airplanes, the MiG-23ML and others may actually be underperforming against new technology added behind pay-walls like the F-16A Netz (Mod) which is far better than the MiG-23ML.

From experience, the MiG-23ML radar is terrible over medium distances, the only thing it makes good is the speed and weaponry (except the R-60M, which performance wise is like most early AIM-9s). I’ve made some F-4EJ ADTW matches were I simply got face-to-face against a MiG-23ML is easy to maneuver, not to say in turn fighting.

mig 23 MLs are free food if you actually know what you’re doing

mig 23’s are pretty easy to kill and it’s hard to perform in them.

They’re fast but have piss poor acceleration and can’t keep an ounce of energy, yes they are missile bus, that’s the only thing they have, learn to use your CM efficiently and you won’t have trouble with them…

Mig 23 dont have doppler radar

Doesn’t have PD

Honestly the R-24Rs aren’t even the problem. The issue is that all the low tier premiums don’t know that their RWR doesn’t detect J-band radar, so they think nobody is locking them. If you get someone who knows what they’re doing they’ll never die to an R-24R (Unless they’re dogfighting and get third partied MAYBE).

Multipathing still works against the R-24R, otherwise you could fly high and chaff the radar and then do some fancy maneuvers against the missile.

F-14A IRIAF at 13.0 has RWR that doesn’t even detect locks (it does but not obviously), it’s about as bad and people still do fine with it (I don’t because I don’t use ARHs, the only reason it’s that high as opposed to 12.3)

Not really, just multipath it. I never understood notching, I understand the theory but it never works for me in practice.

ehh not really, it’s a 12.0 at 11.7, it’s naturally going to be underperforming against 12.3s and 12.7s+, but that can’t be avoided.

its radar is generally just bad in general, especially after they made it auto-switch. I usually rock 2x R-24Ts + IRST combo with 4x R-60Ms, at the start of the match I space climb to Angels 30, then I lock someone with IRST then smite them from 8 - 9km above them, works 9/10 times. R-60Ms are a bit more tricky but I just use them as a shotgun, I blast them off at 0.7 - 1km head on and 0.4 tail chase, works 6/10 times.

Yeahhh I don’t find them too much of a pain when I’m in my F-4EJ, the Sparrows help against the ones in space (granted you need a perfect launch), and the AIM-9Ps are fine for taking out unaware ones, alternatively (and my preferred method) I go head on with them, they think they can hit me with the R-60s but I’m ready with my flare key and I blast them with my 4x 20mm cannons.

mostly due to people not knowing how to play them.

I do pretty well in them and I’m a bad player, I can’t play jets for the life of me.

Their rudder is ass too (wings swept back)

The only good thing they have is the R-24R and it can be defeated pretty easy but it will still get you head on if you are already too close.

I checked the replies, and to be honest, apart from the Doppler remark, it’s just some copium.

Yeah, I was wrong—it’s not Doppler. But the issue is that it can lock onto targets pretty close to the ground rather reliably.

MTI tend to do that, it’s closest thing to a PD radar. But it’s limited to nose down under 1400m AGL. That’s ignoring the fact that SARH are even more vulnerable to Multipath than ARH

Copium is a bold statement when you’re the one on it.

I prefer quality over quantity

MIG-23ML is at the top of the list of prems that were not worth the money. It has a bad RWR, as well as a broken radar. If you have any problems, I advise you to improve your skill.

just multipath

As a mig23ml player multipath and watch out for last second front aspect r60m, those are my two ways of mainly getting kills. And remember to check your surroundings but that’s for any plane really.

Multipath?
When one plane can’t fly above 60m (including trees and uneven terrain), while the other controls 99% of the airspace with a single button click, does that seem like a good balance to you?
(Rhetorical question. More like a sanity check)

Mig-23ML is an average 11.7…

you have zero right to say what to do. you base bomb in fighters and have a 0.12 k/d in the IRAF

Mpathing isn’t even the meta at that BR range, its out of the way of tomcats and far from spamraams. you can actually fly at a decent height still. you need to be aware and know when to use chaff though.

its a good plane but a lot of people know how to fight them now too. I play harriers so I know to just bleed them dry of speed and they become a brick

All 11.7 vehicles sorted by K/D ratio in descending order

As you see migs are the only ones with K/D greater than 1
How is that average?

Because you’re comparing fighters to strike aircrafts. Kfir C.2 is limited in number because event vic
