10.3 British Ajax Is DoA

So with the introduction of the Ajax us UK mains were optamistic about getting this, seemed like a decent tank, ok mobility but better then what we are used too, decent gun compared to other lights in our tree. No ATGM’s I can work with or work around.

However… 10.3 been the same BR as both BMPT’s is tradgic news for this tank as the main weak point is around the gun which every single BMPT user spams without failure!!!

I decided against my better judgement that my mental health will have to suffer as I grinded for the tank and spaded it!!

Then low and behold the UK is getting an event 10.7 ( 0.4 BR increase so still the same lineup 10.7 I use with Ajax ) This new vehicle is coming with Spikes + decent firepower and APS!!!
Now don’t get me wrong I am more then hyped for the UK to finally get spikes!!! But you have effectlive just completely burried the Ajax as even something worth playing or adding to your lineup.

Is it possible this wil be brought down in BR?? Its from the UK so highly unlikely. Or will certain “Terminators” be moved up so that the Ajax will be viable?? Or maybe adding an armour package as an upgrade to help it atleast survive its BR bracket without just dying in seconds to the new FOTM???

If they actually cared, we’d already have a bunch of LAVs in the research tree.

True but we don’t and the new event one is going to really bring some flavour to my 10.7 lineup which I am very much looking forward to, but very sad that the Ajax is going to be reduced to dead content, I mean it was mainly DOA with the Terminator been added same patch and BR, but the new event has just hammered the nails in, burried it and filled it in with cement.

The Ajax is amazing what on earth are you on?

Can’t disagree with Ajax being DoA. Part of me thinks they did that because if they added the Boxer Puma in the tree, nobody would spend money buying marks for what’s essentially a British Strf9040 event tank. Also, the BMPT is undertiered for sure. It need to be at 11.0, but I’m not even sure Gaijin will raise it to 10.7 within the next year, being Russian and all.

If your trolling ok, but if your been serious then please back up your claim. Ajax is mid at best when not against BMPT’s but is about the be overshadowed by the new event vehicle which is going to do everything the Ajax can but be more lethal to MBT’s with spikes and APS should help against heli’s

Nah this is cap. The 40mm cannon that the Ajax (and Jaguar) has is miles better than the 30mm bushmaster that the new event boxer (and most other 10.7-11.3 IFVs) has. And imo super inconsistent spikes don’t make up for the considerably worse cannon.

However yeah the BMPTs are undertiered and should be moved to either 10.7 or 11.0 in their current form.

Ajax is really only DoA cause of the terminator. I’ve seen it go well against other vehicles.

So your saying that its easier to kill tanks with the 40mm vs the 30mm? From my own use of both guns, they seem just as deadly as each other as I want to get side shots on most targets that arn’t lightly armoured. There been only armour 20-30mm less pen across the board between the 2 rounds rarely means anything unless your trying to take on MBT’s headon which the Ajax dies easier to.

I’d rather have spikes then not have them for longer engagments given the fact the Ajax can’t zoom in and is stuck with 8x optic making sniping weak points at ranges alot harder and inconsitant. Also the new event one get APS, which should save you from heli’s way more then the Ajax.

So all I see is better optics - spikes - APS and sits in my 10.7 lineup exactly where my Ajax does. No reason to keep the Ajax in a lineup anymore as it doesn’t bring anything new to the UK tree compared to the new CRV

It does well with most side shots on most tanks / lights / SPAA but the new CRV will do exactly the same but have protection against some ATGM’s, Heli missiles and it carries spikes for longer engagments where the Ajax suffers

The CRV is a bigger target, and spikes are still a joke. They don’t have top down attack and will hit the turret cheeks of MBTs like 90% of the time. Only good at taking out light vehicles. Only missiles with top down attack are Russian LMURs.

Ajax gun is much better and its not even a contest.

I wasnt aware they fixed Strikeshield since Lynx released.

sure, but Spikes are unreliable missiles at best. While fun to spam, these will never be your main means of killing targets.

Yes, a lot easier.

The extra pen makes it a lot more consistent and reduces the amount of “Gaijin shots” and post pen feels a lot better.

Spikes are only really good against other light vehicles anyway, since the majority of the time they will just either do no damage or do very minor damage to MBTs anyway (or do no damage at all).

So yeah I prefer having a better weapon that I can actually control than having a super mid weapon that I can control and a meh weapon that is basically an RNG wheel.

But yeah I do hope that they fix the Ajax zoom.

Since it doesn’t seem like you have played the KF41, I’ll let you in on a little secret:

Don’t expect much from the APS, since strikeshield is notoriously bad in game (the new boxer and KF41 share the same APS). When you play the boxer I would go as far as saying that you should act like it has no APS at all.

I love how three people back to back just agreed spikes are shite. lol

I’d still rather carry them when not.

Seems like your having an issue on when to use them. I haven’t really has an issue using them on the Puma

What? I use the puma too and even firing spikes from across the WHOLE map, it still hits turret cheeks. And even when hitting the top, it hits at an angle where it passes through with no damage. Gaijin’s code has the trajectory as a low arc and not a high arc.

I really didn’t want to be “that guy”, but you have like 86 ground kills in 178 games in the VJTF. That doesn’t really make Spikes look like the good missiles you seem to think they are.

Uhhh- the Boxer CRV doesn’t use the Bushmaster but the 30 mm MK 30-2/ABM cannon. So it’s a slightly better cannon, but not by much.
