There might be few BRs that you could enjoy whether you are uptiered or not but a full 1.0 br uptier seems to be a disaster no matter what you are playing.
.7 should be the default.
Perhaps, there are many examples of this but I’ll give you one example that I personally know of. F-16CM pobit’s br replacement is so bad that any uptier it is 6 fox3s vs 12 fox3 SMs. And that is only .3 uptier btw, Pobit needs to sit at a lower BR but let’s not get into that here because then any full downtier, you are facing 13.3 planes having 6 aim120ds with aesa radar vs mig29s etc.
A BR decompression (at least at the top tier) and tightening the BR bracket is past due.
And last but not least, I’d rather wait for a minute or two to get into a fairly balanced game then get into a match and actually watse a good 5-10 minutes.
I used to be a firm believer in actual decompression and keeping the ±1 BR but I’m at a point where I’ll gladly take anything, even ±.7.
It’s SO bad for some legacy planes and tanks right now and even new additions aren’t being spared.
WT playerbase needs to be stuided tbh. Any quality of life improvement suggestion by players and others are there to challange it as if they are bots. Maybe they are trying to get into the good grace of gaijin in the forums to be mods or something, that might be the biggest life achievement they could get. I am at a loss.
The “it would increase queue times so we won’t do it” is a lie due to the bmpt situation, so there’s no reason not to do it apart from increasing the frustration which is gaijins entire business model.
The longer Q time argument is not even an argument. We literally are able to find instant matches at the moment. A slight change would not even make Q times that much longer. Plus, a full uptier is almost always a waste of time so I rather wait for a minute on the queue and have a balanced game than waste 10s of minutes and some days hours on playing uptier.
Again, they are doing their stuff and not listening the playerbase.
Increasing the frustration is definitely their business model, well said. The game has been designed to be addictive. You get 5 bad matches and 1 good match feels like you have achieved something incredible. This is addictive behaviour.
This is a game, a game needs to be something that is being enjoyed.
NO!
0.7 is outdated, anti-player, pro-BR compression nonsense. It would only increase player frustration and compress BRs.
1.0 allows for far more balancing mechanisms than 0.7. 4 is a larger number than 3. 4 is decompression, 3 is compression.
0.7 BR compression will take infinitely more work than BR decompression while also compressing many BRs such as 6.7 ground.
Support decompression, stop supporting matchmaker compression.
I’m glad to be on the side of decompression.
This idea of yours is anti-decompression, that is NOT my take.
Agreed.
There is so many tanks and planes what could work in 0.7 on both ways, but facing 1.0 above you , makes it completely near useless to spawn.
This would help also CAS players on ground a lot, when they dont have to face example IRIS on 11.7 lineup etc.
This would also make X.7 lineups more viable to take X.0/X.3 vehicles on lineup, when those doesnt need to face XX.7 vehicles.
This is really what this game needs. And I bet it wouldnt effect on queue times on nowdays when there is plenty of players around br’s especially on Air and Ground.
12.3 Air facing constantly 13.3 Fox 3 while having only IR missiles.
10.3 facing Terminators.
10.7 , getting wiped by Fujis etc.
12.0 lineups facing blatantly Op cas planes on 13.0 / LDIRCM F&F spamming helos. Not to mention 12.0 planes having best time of life against those planes. Etc etc etc.
This 0.7 would be fastest and easyest way to balance game and differences on among vehicles on match BR range.
so many tanks / jets struggle against other tanks jets because they outclass them and better !
like Me 163 at 8.7 facing Su-7 o.o
sad M60 face T-72M1 thats just small examples.
would be awesome if snail make just a test for 1 week and see the feedback and test the Q time in my opinion.
The whole idea of BR decompression is to go against vehicles that are somewhat more equal to each other. If a vehicle is far more superior to the possible competition, moving its BR up prevents them to face against to the vehicles that are far less capable.
Say SU30SM2 has AESA radar with 14 missiles sitting at 14.7. Possible competition (as an example), is f16c sitting at 13.7, no AESA radar with only 6 early AMRAAMs and yet these two face each other. Similar when f16c goes downtier btw.
Decompressing the BR, moving SM2 to 15.0 would prevent them facing each other. Fair.
Tightening the matchmaking BR from ±1 to .7 would do exactly the same.
On the surface, yes it might look to be the same thing, but it’s not. What AlvisWisla says actually make sense when you think about it.
If the BR range for uptiers is tightened then more granular matchmaking is impossible. This is more evident if you restrict a hypothetical matchmaker to only include vechicles at the exact same BR. That would be the ideal balanced matchmaking right?
Problems actually still occur with matchmaking. Imagine Plane A is a bit worse than Plane B and Plane B is a bit worse than Plane C. Plane A and B should play together and Plane B and C should play together, but plane A and C should not play together because they are too different in performance. This is not possible to implement if you could only play in the exact same BR.
±1 BR works as a tool to get more nuanced matchmaking. Changing it to ±0.7 would achieve the same as decompression and is easy to implement, but it would reduce the possible BR nuance. The developers would be less able to properly matchmake planes with a similar performance.
A proper decompression is therefore much more preferable, even if ±0.7 is tempting as an easy solution.
Terminators aren’t the best 11.3s in the game.
Type 90 is no where close to the best 11.7s in the game.
12.0 OP CAS? You have to be referencing USA, and even USA’s CAS while the best 12.0 CAS in the game, is not OP.
0.7 requires all the work of decompression + compressing the matchmaker and destroying the game forever.
World of Tanks already has your ideal anti-decompression matchmaker.
Decompression is easier and faster than ruining the game’s matchmaker permanently and destroying War Thunder with matchmaker compression.
13.0 compression is literally 0.7 BR decompression away from being 100% fixed as well.
@ZarathustraE
Yes, the fact F-15C and F-16C are the same BR is a crime, and is easily fixed with decompression.
Decompression > matchmaker compression.
Decompression > compression.
SM2 isn’t the only 14.3/14.7 that needs to be 15.0.
And stop calling BR compression “tightening”, it’s not tightening it’s compressing.
So yeah, if you want World of Tanks’ matchmaker, there’s already games for that.
I much prefer War Thunder’s decompressed matchmaker.
Decompression is infinitely easier than copying World of Tanks, and that’s not an exaggeration.
Compression, tightening, is the word of choice your biggest concern here? Did you understand what i try to say? Move on.
As said, SM2 was just an example, you can implement this to many other vehicles in many other BRs. Surely, you did not think that I only wanted SM2 to move to 15 and nothing else to be done, right?
Now you are saying BR decompression is just easier to implement but then again you also said:
Contradicting.
Noone said this.
I am not entirely sure why you puliing these stuff out of thin air but you seem to be one of those who argues just to argue with someone.
