in the game, stingers have it and its extremely useful
do iglas have it?
Are you talking about the seeker shut off?
no, seeker memory function. if the target is lost the seeker will continue following the predicted path and you can still fire and for me it often kills targets that have flied behind buildings or trees or whatever
does igla have it?
I dont think thats is a feature of the stingers rather it is closer to a bug where the games still lets you to fire the missiles without fov, the iglas cant really do that as they dont have the small delay between the missile automatically tracks the target and loosing fov, even if it had it isnt really usefull on the iglas as you cant manually loft it over the buildings or trees
pretty sure its intended, it is consistent and logical. whether the stinger has seeker memory irl, no idea.
ofcourse these will always just be our guesses.
doesnt seems so, it more like a game limitation, where there is an small delay before the missiles stop tracking the target
to me it seems like a memory function as it tracks a predicted path isntead of the actual target and has a consistent and relatively long time to it
it is not, it is just the track that which meeds a few houdreds of miliseconds to register that it doesnt have fov, which is why youre able to lauch them, so for a moment the missile still track the plane.
it seems to change if you manually throw off the seeker phrase showing it doesn’t actually track the target but the seeker memory though
the time also seems closer to 3 seconds rather than 0.5 seconds
I’ve been spading my 8.0-9.7 lineups and this is the biggest pile of garbage I have ever played period.
The missile is only going to hit CAS that flys in a straight line, even a slight manuever is enough, or they are going less than 500kmph. You fight people that know what they are doing and this missile is basically just a giant “here I am come kill me!” flare. I don’t even think these can hit a CAS player with a brain flying a super prop.
The mobility is DREADFUL, it takes five(5) seconds to hit 20 kmph forward, and 7kmph reverse means that if a plane drops bombs on you from like 4-5 km you are dead, you aren’t getting out of that.
The guns are fine for spaa, but they don’t have the reach of 30+ mm guns, and the pen is absolutely terrible for the ground game, you have trouble penning light tanks from the front at distance, i’ve caught mbts side on from ~400m and not been able to pen them, just track and then im dead. And again the mobility makes going to caps or playing ground when there are no planes just the worst thing imaginable.
The radar works for tracking, you can point it at the air spawn and detect planes when they come in, but its terrible for situational awareness, can’t point up at all, If you for some reason use 360 it takes about 10 seconds to do a full rotation, you are gonna have to use your ears most times.
Its embarrassing this is 9.3, its an 8.0 SPAA with a missile that gets you killed against even below average CAS players, and nets you kills against only the most braindead of CAS players.
Having played the gepards, there is no situation I would play the 9.3 ZSU over the 8.3 gepard ever, there just isn’t a scenario were the zsu is better. I’d rather be able to move around the map faster than a snail and dodge incoming ordinance, kill ground vics, have a better radar, and guns that can engage at a farther distance which matters a lot against helis.
And heres a game after I posted this.
Heres what im talking about
https://files.catbox.moe/t0724t.mp4
This guy is clueless, just flys at altitude the entire time from airspawn, doesn’t care about anything, just points down after seeing someone and eats a missile, if he just had any awareness and turned slightly he would have lived. And again in the gepard at 4km you can shoot your guns at this guy and get just as easy a kill, I can’t with the 23’s.
Then later on in the match we have someone that knows what they are doing
https://files.catbox.moe/1bp40c.mp4
I hear this guy coming, preaim, and now I see something else that’s significantly worse than the gepard and that’s turret rotation, almost half the gepard, pretty sure I’d have a real chance at getting shots on with the gepard here. Considering this is going to be your average interaction with good CAS players at this BR where you have to hear them coming preaim, and you have a small window of oppurtunity for a gun kill having terrible turret rotation is going to hurt at anything but headon aspects.
The OSa AKM is even worse believe it or not
I played it for 4-5 games and took it out of my lineup. It kills helis I guess, thats it. Miserable to play in the ground game, and no guns for low passing CAS so its dead.
Thats the problem I have rn;
I use the ZSU-23-4M4 (9.3) in my 10.3 games and I can’t kill anything.
I use the OSA AKM instead because I just got it and ohhh boy;
i can’t lock anything, it can’t see anything with its pathetic radar and IRST doesn’t wanna work, its missiles are slow and easily evaded…
It’s only niche is that it’s missiles pull off the rail so hitting really close enemies is easier. The problem with that is your enemy is already in your gun’s range at that point.
Otherwise ZSU SAM is mediocre at best. Low G load, no trigger radius and the vehicle itself is pretty poor, with shitty mobility and radar.
The thing that aggravated me the most is that caged seeker, meaning you can’t lead the missile and toss it around obstacles.
There is plenty of bad CAS players you can kill in either, its not like unplayable, but the OSA cant defend it self at all, can’t play ground, and is completely helpless against lawnmowing CAS which is how you should play CAS unless you have AGMs. ZSU at least has guns for lawnmowers, even if its outclassed by other spaa in virtually every metric except density of rounds. It’s good at 8.0, its not at 9.3.
Never had problems with radars locking things, unless you mean close to ground? And in that case its never worth using radar in those situations you lose precious time locking and readjusting you gotta just rip it raw, if you watch that second vid I posted if I tried to lock him up by the time i did he would of been out of LOS, you gotta use you ears and preaim. IRST doesn’t work if there is any weather and mostly pointless to use, theres a gigantic smoke plume coming from the enemy spawn, and thats where you should have eyes on as a CAS player if you are playing at altitude so its not like you are gonna sneak a missile in with IRST 99% of the time.
Strela is at the same BR as the OSA just play that, its actually good at punishing good CAS players.
Ya forgot about the caged seeker thats another negative for sure. I know with strela you can lob them over hills when people do low passes.
Yeah, it’s by far my least liked IR SAM I’ve used for several reasons.
Seeing some people above wanting to push it up to 9.7 makes no sense to me.
you can barely hit anything at like 2 km since the guns are so ASS, the shells lose their velocity almost immediately after like 1400 meters, not to mention that its borderline impossible to hit a target moving away from you
I find this Shilka to really suck. Not a fan of the vehicle. I really wanted to like it because it looks cool.
I’ve found every Shilka to suck. Maybe the radarless one is ok.
The one at 8.0 is alright, having a radar even a crappy one for tracking at that BR is nice, and you mostly fight ww2/early cold war stuff.
