Better thermals and dart.
okay.
But if going a bit off topic, is Leo 2PL still worth going for it, or its performance is much more different from top tier Leopards? Im going for it for replica of another game’s tank, for style… But Im interested in performance nonetheless
Yes, it’s still a decent tank with good thermals, though it’s relative strength went down a bit after many vehicles got reload buffs.
M1A1 Click Bait/AIM
I honestly have no idea. Never used it. No experience with it.
However I know it is completely different from 2a7v. It’s like the difference between armor of an Abrams vs a 2a7. Its protection is on line with its peers.
Leopard 2PL is… meh.
-530mm KE unhistorical shell.
-300mm max KE hull.
-Huge 300mm KE right cheek gunner sight weakspot.
-1/3rd of the turret profile is the 300mm KE mantlet.
If it were a lower BR, or had its historical DM63 shell or at least DM53, it could be good.
But, so far, it’s just 0.3BRs away from Leopard 2A7V, which has +120mm more of penetration, +400mm more KE worth of armor, significantly smaller weakspots and spall liners.
Sure it works if you use carefully. But, as of now, it’s all weaknesses and no strengths compared to the counterparts it faces just 0.3 BRs higher.
Italy gets “Alpha & Omega” here)
Yep, hoards of new players getting one of the worst toptier tanks without a proper lineup.
The Leo 2PL is great, one of the best 11.7’s.
…and what exactly supposedly makes it “one of the best 11.7s” when it has the weakest armor, the biggest and weakest weakspots, the second worst shell, barely average reload now that nearly everyone has got a 5 second one and comparable mobility to its stronger counterparts.
Not to mention that 11.7 is quite literally pretty much 12.0 anyway… so we gotta compare Leopard 2PL to the 2A7s, the 122s, BVM, even SEP/SEPv2/AIM, etc.
Highly versatile tank
Ask for decompression then. But the 2PL doesn’t need any buffs.
So just like literally any other 11.7-12.0, except all of those also have better armor, survivability, shell and/or reload…?
Giving it DM53 (not even its historical DM63) would hurt no one. Why can there be 11.7s with better armor, reload and survivability, and shells like 3BM60, M322, DM53 and M829A2, but 2PL needs to be handicapped with the worst Rank VII-VIII shell?
And the 2PL is one of the best for vesatility.
Sure, move it up to 12.0.
Well, for example there, the 3BM60 tank is the T-72B3, which is the exact opposite of versatile.
The other USSR 11.7’s are the T-80U’s, more versatile than a T-72B3, but also 3BM46 instead of 3BM60.
Another example, Challenger 3 with DM53, again not nearly as versatile as a 2PL.
so the 2PL is utter trash compared to few other options? Not gonna change my choice as there is two iconic stuff after which I chose that tank, but apparently from your review it’s as bad as I found out after doing quick research
It lacks armor protection, survivability and firepower compared to most of its counterparts, but… it gets the job done if you use it mindfully, just like any tank at its BR. After all, it’s still a 120mm gun on a mobile platform with good traverse dynamics.
It’s not bad per se, but it’s definitely unforgiving compared to other tanks at its BR- it won’t provide you with many second chances when being shot (turret can be trolly though), and it will require flawless weakspot aim, since its unhistorical DM43 shell has the lowest penetration in all of Top Tier, surpassed only by 3BM46.
The 3rd generation thermals are an absolute pleasure to the eye, though- that’s something you can hand to this tank to be sure. Really good and comfortable to spot and engage.
Has the lowest pen besides Japan and 3bm46
is its 480mm+ penetration not enough to deal with most targets so you need around 580mm+ of e.g. Abrams AIM’s shell (or any researchable tank’s) for normal gameplay? on the other hand it comes with stock AP, which will probably annoy way less than HEAT
hold on, Leo has a researchable shell with 530mm+ of penetration… Not the best, but I think it will be enough with my skill
My opinion? Top Tier vehicle design and doctrine was not taken into account when redoing the maps and compressing the map sizes. Also, add to the fact that right now the Snail favors CQC / CQB battles in top tier.
Top Tier ground has literally become a case of who shoots first. Kinda reminds me of long a peaking with an AWP in CS.
My point of view?
Very slow ground grind.
Tank gameplay is (at least for me) very boring and frustrating.
Ill stick to Air for now.
it has always been like that even through low and mid tier… It’s just some vehicles have bad guns and some have bad armor so we choose better ones, same goes for top tier.
