It’s theoretically possible that they translated the CG model’s texture to the in-game tank with AI and it failed to account for the intent behind the flags looking like that because it’s a computer that copies the placement of pixels in image files and physically can’t understand these things, but AI 3d models and textures are uh. Not exactly great. and by not exactly great I mean ‘basically unusable and prohibitively expensive’ so that’s unlikely
You’re insanely wrong. Almost every field outside of medicine that has tried to incorporate LLMs into the workflow has reported efficiency going DOWN. AI “Art” is a soulless abomination that appeals to people who think the product is the most important part of anything and AI writing is so easy to spot it’s not even funny. LLMs CONSTANTLY get questions wrong (wow who would have guessed that using the entire unfiltered internet as a dataset would have problems) and nobody wants data centers built in their towns. You bought into the hype like a fool and you think that the prices of all computer related hardware going up is a good thing despite the fact that AI is insanely unpopular with the general public and continues to get even more unpopular because it poisons water supplies, contributes heavily to climate change, and just makes misinformation and disinformation much easier to spread.

Don’t forget! They’re also poisoning towns and making gaming (and computing in general) more expensive! All for propaganda that your grandpa eats for breakfast and “funny” videos.
This is most likely human error in the modelling process, since AI can’t make 3d models and the design is too consistent from multiple angles for the images themselves to be generated.
This actually might explain why they had to remake parts of the skin for the in-game model, if the model they made for the short was itself wrong?

- There is no “right” way to use AI image generation. At best you’re a scumbag who would rather save a couple bucks or some time rather than learn to draw/commission someone. At worse you’re a major corporation actively snubbing the many artists who would likely do what you want for very cheap in favor of the stealing machine.

There are like dozens of documentaries on YT about AI centers and their impact on the community, so I find it weird that plenty of people are still oblivious about that. I guess it’s better to doomscroll on Tiktok for hours.

Why? AI is just software. Do you refuse to buy anything from anyone who uses computer graphics programs to produce the art and text on their packaging or products?
this is a false equivalence and you know it. AI generation has almost zero human input in the process. You prompt and then the LLM generates some slop for you.
Digital artists are still putting in the work. They’re making the lines and doing the shading. Or does art not count as “real” art unless it’s on paper or canvas.

I’m friends with many, many digital artists, and no the ones worth their salt are not using generative AI tools to “save time”. Artists ADORE stick figure renditions of what you want, they don’t want slop.
