Yokosuka P1Y2a model 16a (空技廠 一六型)
The Yokosuka P1Y2a is a Japanese bomber created after the P1Y2-S night fighter was converted back into a bomber. 96 Yokosuka P1Y2-S and P1Y2 aircraft were built
History
The Japanese, after the introduction of the Yokosuka P1Y2-S night aircraft, quickly discovered that the aircraft was poorly efficient at high altitudes, which caused it to have problems intercepting the B-29. For this reason, it was decided to convert some of the P1Y2-S aircraft back into bombers. They decided to create, as in the case of the P1Y1, three differently armed versions of the P1Y2 aircraft, these were to be the A version with two Type 99 cannons for self-defense, the B version with one Type 99 cannon in the nose and a twin Type 2 13.2mm machine gun on the back in the turret and the C version, armed with three Type 2 13.2mm rifles, one in the nose and two on the back. These aircraft entered service in 1945 and took part in various combat operations. Most of them were created in the P1Y2a version, but the exact number is not known. These planes were not equipped with air brakes, so they had to attack from horizontal flight, which made them easier to shoot down. Very few P1Y2s of all versions survived until the end of the war.

Construction description
The Yokosuka P1Y2a is very similar to the Yokosuka P1Y1 aircraft, but there are a few differences that I will describe here.

  1. The Nakajima NK9C Homare 12 engine has been changed to Mitsubishi MK4T-A Kasei 25a
  2. Changed the appearance of engine covers
  3. The rear wheel can be retracted
  4. The aircraft does not have air brakes

Summary
The Yokosuka P1Y2a is a very interesting aircraft for Japan in War Thunder. This aircraft would be an interesting aircraft to complement the P1Y1 aircraft or a good Premium/Event aircraft. I encourage you to discuss in the comments and to share your own knowledge on this subject.
Finally, I apologize for the linguistic and logical errors because unfortunately English is not my main language and I had to use google translator.

A +1 from me! More P1Ys would be most appreciated

We definitely need more P1Ys

The front cannon can be fired by the pilot right?

No, pilot no, front gunner yes. P1Y2a is almost the same as the regular P1Y1 from the game.

This image you included might be a different plane then. You can see the cannon that is separate from where the front gunner usually is

This is a radar, a remnant of the P1Y2-S aircraft. Most P1Y2 aircraft had radar installed, but those searching for submarines had it installed.

More precisely, it is the FD-1 radar, which, for example, was also installed on J1N1-S, G4M or H8K aircraft (and other aircraft). This radar was able to detect ships or planes, but it was quite unsophisticated and very heavy. I may be wrong, but I think this radar is in the game, but it is not modeled. You have the same radar in the Ki-67-I otsu aircraft

Personally speaking, I really don’t like P1Y in the game, it role is quite awkward, B7A2 is better than it at all aspect I would say

Historically, these are two different planes for different purposes, but in War Thunder it doesn’t matter. Everyone prefers an offensively armed plane to one that is defensively armed. I can’t help it

I see, it does look a bit different though.

That being said, I can see where it is mounted. Idk why I thought it was a cannon

Another pic that makes it easier to see its an aerial.
