It was your favorite the last time I checked your profile. Roughy when this thread started. Which is suspicious.
I play on console, it is far harder to be far more accurate with a controller, and before you bring up M&K, that’s just a no. Being generally good at the game, when I test flew the Yak, TU-1, and SU-8 in the past, pretty much only light tanks were super susceptible to the 45mms. (These tanks would die to 20mm as well easily). Mediums could be killed, depending on range and angle. Heavies are generally a long shot.
I think my favorite kill in my Tu-1 was skipping rounds off the ground beneath a Tiger H1 and blowing it up. (Took 3 rounds to kill his whole crew out of the 10 I fired).
It wouldn’t give you good data if I, the person with less matches tested that for you with bombs. Because option A: my data grossly out weighs yours, then you could just say I faked it as I assume you would. Option B: since I clearly don’t fly as much as you, the data becomes skewed lower, as you don’t have the same constants. To have actual sufficient data, you need constants, but change the variables.
However, you say CAP can anhiliate it same as a duck or stuka or similar.
I say no. The yak-9k is a pretty competent aircraft in a dogfight due to its very good roll rate and near-stall controls.
Anecdotal and with SB controls, so no instructor limit -
Bf109G10 dives on my Yak-9K while I was looking ahead to scan for hostiles or maybe attack bombers
It lands its shots, tearing off half my elevator and horizontal stabilizer. I am now flying a crippled yak-9k
I initiate a break turn
I begin rolling and pulling as much as I can and rapidly changing the direction of my roll until…
and proceed with scuffed rolling scissors after I see him meet my “reversal criteria” (in other words: he’s in a position where he’ll overshoot and travel a longer path than I do)
We make a few head-on exchanges trading positions
I gain the controlling position and it turns into a rolling two circle fight with my sitting in lag behind the Bf109G14 and gaining angles.
Bf109G14 gets third party’d as I start to prepare to shoot. I get third party’d by a zero thinking I’m an american aircraft carrier
The video is posted earlier in this thread. I am not linking it again lest I get flagged for spamming my channel.
Might be a stat-padder. Might be having had a bad day, but they in theory have substantial experience and results to say they’re decent at their plane.
With this in context, are you confident a yak-9k is impotent and bad at defending itself in a dogfight?
I’m just an average pilot with, at the time… around 4-5 hours flying yak-3 and yak-9k put together in SB?
I’m nowhere experienced enough with the Yak-9K to justify that fight as me being capable of pushing it to its performance limits, nor am I generally amazing for it to transfer. I’m average. I could reverse a bf109G14 in a crippled yak-9k.
She’s a good plane. She’s not amazing. She’s not a spitfire or a zero or a pyörrömerski or something like that. The 29 ammo does mean you need a high skill floor to do well with her in gaining good shots and prevents you from making snap-shots-of-opportunity like you can with the Mustang Mk Ia or even yak-3.
But she’s not helpless nor defenceless. She puts up one hell of a fight.
Also she’s not better than Bf109G10. If the other pilot extended away, I’d have probably lost after they re-engaged. But she can fight back, and that means she’s a competent plane.
As an aside
Literally why I went to fly it in ASB to see how she performs before commenting on its A2A capabilities (I was confident of its A2G capabilities)
As for the console part - GSB is my only advice. GSB removes the aiming advantage mouse aim has, but alas rotations mean you only get to fly ever so often.
It’s fun because that same argument is used by Russian mains (as the one you’re arguing with) to systematically harass other mains into telling them their vehicles should be higher in br, yet when it’s their turn to face a BR raise, they’re skilled as they can and their vehicles can’t ever be at a significant disadvantage cause they suffer, and every single argument you may draw to them to prove otherwise is ‘plain skill issue’.
false flagged by the only player who’s gaslighing.
The one you set to make it look as if you you played it a lot you mean? Or to further your argument?
If your suggesting making it harder for pc to aim planes, I’m for it :) after all, it’s not really balanced consoles vs pc.
I can’t trust someone whom is biased.
Also, Spookston didn’t actually get 16 kills if you watched the video. He got 6 in one life, respawned and got 4.
If you have ever watched his videos, they all say “broken” “op” etc on all the Russian vehicles.
I’m glad your opinion doesn’t agree with me but your stats do:
The only time I had Yak-9UT set on my profile was when I wanted to showcase my stats on it (make a screanshoot of them). It was never my favourite vehicle to begin with but it is amusing that You want to argue what my personal favourite vehicle is.
If You want to discuss things, You should reply to what people say, not what You imagine they have said.
The only one biased here is someone who have played less than 10 battles with something and wants to discuss it
That was cute but not really.
Compare the number of battles and we can talk then. Not to mention that W/R has nothing to do with how well vehicle performs.
Not to mention that at that B.R., 12.7mm on hellcat can destroy a lot of tanks and that is how I got such a good K/D.
Thanks for using that as another example that shows that bombs are not everything
You said it is balanced and fine.
Saying if it wasn’t, it would go up in BR.
It goes up in BR and you say you were right.
Right about what?
That it would go up in BR if it was overperforming? Yes, but you only said that to strenghten your argument that it’s balanced at 4.3, which, as it turns out, it’s not.
But, the P63 lacks the Yak 9 performance and speed. The Yak 9 consistently beats a P63 in a one-on-one fight. The P63 also lacks the ability to withstand damage - any hit at all sets the wing fuel tanks on fire, which means you’re about the have that wing snap off, which means any hit equals a crashed P63.
Again, SB ensures console and PC have the same aiming potential, at least for planes. Tanks remain tanks.
GSB really could use improvements in matchmaker. I advise trying to make waves and push for it. Maybe one day we get critical mass.
Also no response to refutation that Yak-9k cannot fight other planes? Not a claim that “yak9k is OP and dominates A2A”, claim that “Yak9K is capable of defending itself using the right tactics and maneuvers even while disdadvantaged and damaged” which refutes that “yak9K loses against CAP no matter what.”
I never said the Yak 9K couldn’t fight planes, and yes it’s a better turn fighter than energy fighter.
But the lack of people who can play it effectively is why I don’t get why it’s so hated. There’s maybe 3-4% of the whole player base whom are effective with it.
For example, playing my Tiger H1 yesterday, I got shot by 2-3 Yak-9ks. They fired more than 20 rounds. Only one pen’d and killed the commander, and injured the loader.
And this are only few examples, You can check all of them in the game. There is no point for me to upload all the vehicles that can be destroyed as You can look them up in the game not to mention that it is a topic about Yak-9
Just because people can’t use it doesn’t mean that it is balanced.
