Im talking purely about their fighting ability, the 9K’s new belts dont really matter in an air battle, if he hits you you’re F’ed anyway.
Since WT started, the Yaks in general have been utterly op and it is VERY tiring.
The Yak 9k is the crappest Yak9 so I am not referring specifically to that one yet it does still have the characteristics of the others.
In air battles, I disagree.
Yak 9 and Yak 3 feel awful at 550-610 km/h IAS. They barely roll and the controls feel stiff. Fighting americans (especially p-51-c10, f4u-1, f4u-4, p51d30) with diving room feels very annoying and frustrating. These planes can easily sit at your lock-up speed and they not even don’t feel stiffening - they control better at such speeds!
They have a counter. It just so happens their amazing near-stall control with flaps and amazing low-medium speed roll rate works really well at prolonged dogfights.

4.3 is kinda to low for its potency, at the same time an A-1H sits at 6.3 and can do the same without much skill.
Both are equal good or bad against Enemy fighters. A-1H has additional 20mms after dropping all bombs and rockets to kill some additional panthers if no enemy Fighter or AA spawns in… and even if an AA spawns in… with the same skill level as a “OP” Yak9K u can and will screw up all enemy AAs from 2-4 km with the HVARs… (all but the skink maybe)
So yes… its a bittersweet pill… 6.0… a bit to aggressive.
Theres the Yak9 UT sitting at 6.0 already (in grb), same 45mm but instead of a 12.7 it has a 20mm plus an much better engine.
I could see the Yak9K at 5.3 for GRB, but not higher. Would not make a difference though.
Tanks at 4.3 can be killed with a 12.7. The 45mm APHE shines mostly on higher BR stuff like the Tigers/Panthers and that kind of stuff.
And dont forget, at 6.7 there is a even more nasty version in the air.
But i get your point, its super frustrating to not have balanced CAS in the game, either they are crap or they are brutally broken in the hands of good players or when they have aided stuff like on the higher BRs.
Wish we get the old times back. Where u have 2 bomb drops max and then u assist your team in dogfighting the enemy or spotting enemy tanks on the ground. Good old times where playing a Tank on the ground was actually the way to win and not go into a Su25/Ka50/Yak9 UT/A1U1/Tu2S/A1H/A4E … the list goes on for quite a while… and shred the enemy into pieces from above, from save space, till the enemy gives up their tanks and spawn in a fighter or AA and often even then lose to CAS.
One of the main reasons most players enjoy the middle BR. Not much Computer aided CAS in the air and the average player is not skilled enough to kill 5+ with a CAS on average, so they dont harm the teams that much. But if u find one that is skilled… ure better hurry and get that guy down.

I love to be able to destroy even the best ground targets up to around 7.0 without much of an issue with 4.3 plane that is still able to fight other planes.
But, but my argument dictates all who dislike CAS and require a tank-only mode or wish for CAS BRs/capabilities to be reviewed must suck at using planes!

Oh that 5cm Me 262? Ja, that is kinda better since it can run well. IMO, Yak can be somewhere around 5-6.0, but God not 4.0.
I know right. Then make my goddamned Do 335 have 200mm of armor since it costs over 800 SP with bombs + full AP belts for both 15 and 30mm guns!

Throwing around the idea of a massive economy change with no consideration to the effects it will have outside of your sweaty gamer zone despite having no experience outside there. Call me back when you get the purplest of purple numbers and I’ll still tell you that you can’t be in two places at once, but a squad can.
6.0 is a little much, 5.7 seems fair because Russia has a great lineup there. tbh there isn’t a single BR in the game where it won’t just clear out entire teams, you can get 5+ kills with this thing at top tier.

I am really unsure that Yak-9K need to be placed higher than 109 K-4 or Spitfire LF Mk.IX, all because of the silly APHE belt. from current 4.0BR.
I am double sure that a skilled Bf109 K-4 or Tempest Mk.V player can eat a 3-squad of Yak-9K alive in 1v3.
Maybe it can have higher BR in ‘Ground realisitic’ than current 4.3

Apparently the 9k, which was never previously mentioned as a “problem plane” with a broken fm gained a crazy fm with the aphe belt and is now competitive against every single prop.
Not really.
APHE belt converted it into a great anti-ground plane that compared to other nations planes that play that role is able to fight the air better than said other nations units
