They have no intention of nerfing the BMPT
To be honest I would prefer if the XM246 went up high enough to get its historical APDS and HE-VT shells. The entire reason the US got the XM246 was to fill the 8.0 SPAA gap, but there are a few other choices to fill that gap if need be. In the program that eventually chose the M247, there were several competing designs that didn’t make the cut to the XM246 and M247, a couple of which could fill the gap if the XM246 moved up.
I know, thats why they always increase vehicle BRs instead of putting work into modelling it properly
Just as a note I’m aware of the reason why the XM246 didn’t get these rounds because it’s all one belt but it’s split between both guns so in theory you could force one gun to use the APDS or HE-VT.
The M247 its utterly garbage for the most part,it struggles to kill light vehicles, sure it has proxy rounds so it can come handy for air but its still an IF CAS gets actually close to the battlefield…
It was decent before the nerf where it could actually overpressure T80s iirc frontally (I dont quite remember which T series tank it was sorry) and it was actually usuable at 9.0 to a degree, now its utterly useless and i dont see it being at 9.0
Im always ok to bumping up/down vehicles BRs but it has to be done properly, balancing it out…
The 2 nerfs that occurred were forcing only 1/2 a belt of HE-VT and removing the AP shell in favor of SAP-HEI. I also believe it’s HE-VT lost some explosive power too.
Because it’s American. That’s the only real reason.
They completely ignore that’s slower than the Gepard, has a larger silhouette, and has no APDS. All they care about is that it’s American and they naturally try to find a reason to complain.
Not saying it’s a trend, but the LAV-AD, M247, and ADATS were all nerfed at multiple points in time due to performance.
It is a trend tho
Said so… @Pangolin_Fan its right, its big af,no APDS meanwhile the gepard its smaller and has APDS
heck i even personally went 1 time alone with the gepard and did nearly 2 nukes in a game reaching over 3k points…
“oh but the 246 can tank a shell” well yeah but as soon you get hit, sure you aint dead but you cant fight back either,so whats the point?Just J out
If you bump the XM246 to 8.7,the gepard should go too,its logical
I’d argue the LAV and M247 are overpowered, however It’s not a issue with American tanks. Pretty much all SPAA (especially Gepard clones) at the 8.3-10.0 range is too powerful.
How is the 247 OP?
In its current stats its utterly trash at 9.0
Cant even destroy a barrel to escape
They both had their anti-tank roles heavily nerfed, but at the same time had their anti-air roles nerfed in the process. It’s heavily documented that the FIM-92K stingers are not accurate to IRL in terms of G overload. The GAU-12 is very inaccurate at mid-long range and is only useful within 1 mile of aircraft, with stingers being only viable at around 2-2.5 miles maximum. The M247 lost 1/2 its ammo capacity for fighting aircraft effectively.
Atp lets make the Xm246 9.0 and make the 247 8.3
Same reason as the PZG09. It faces non-RWR planes with invisible rounds, and proxy to top it off.
They’re both incredibly powerful from my experience.
The M247 would lose it’s HE-VT as a result, making it even more useless than the XM246.
Heres the problem with that statment
being at 9.0 = planes / heli are outside of your effective range, ammo its too slow so youre either have aimbot with these shells or youre just shooting to do nothing cause the plane/heli evaded them…
Expecially when uptiered all the have to do its bomb tossing and youre cooked
I know for personal experience,if the plane or heli its very far away and the planes its moving in a straight line without moving an inch then ofc its easy to kill them with Proxy
If the heli aint moving, its just hovering there,of course its easy to kill em from range
As soon you have someone that moves constantly, expecially planes and doesnt get into that 3/2.5 km range youre pretty much useless to the team
it was a joke,i wasnt actually serious
The AHEAD ammunition on the PGZ09 is only useful within a short distance and does not work on rear aspect aircraft due to the nature of the ammunition. I will agree that the M247 and PGZ09 are better than the majority of the missile SPAA systems at the same BR.
So why is it performing better than Gepard even without APDS ?
Issues with volumetric and the angled penetration calculator Gaijin uses. It’s not the fault of the vehicle it’s poor implementation of mechanics on Gaijin’s part.
