Many times I’ve encountered the xm246 ( 8.3 American SPAA) and many times it’s smited me I’ve been in French MBTS Russian heavy tanks no matter what I’m in it’s broken OP and either needs a nerf or to go up a br because I’m trying to play 7.7-8.3 France and I can’t compete it’s the epitome of overpowered
indeed its damage model is infuriating, those modules soak up way too much damage sometimes
Pretty much every 8.3-8.7 SPAA is like this. The 246 is especially tanky because people aim for the center mass on the turret, where modules eat the round. Its ammo is directly behind the guns on either side – that’s how you ammo rack it.
The XM246 has objectively worse anti-tank capability compared to its equivalents (Gepard, Chieftan Marksman, etc.) due to the lack of the apds belt. If you have an issue with the XM246 but not the Gepard and its siblings then you may just be getting unlucky or need to consider a change in playstyle
It has LRF for easier cupola sniping and it’s guns aren’t so apart, which makes aiming easier.
You are wrong. 40 apds shells are basically nothing. The aphe is the problem. Also, the 246 is much harder to kill than a gepard and others. 246 also has like 10 degrees of depression when other aas only have 5
Even stats indicate it’s a bit too strong for 8.3.

you cant really bump this shit box up just cause of the APHE belt being broken cause overpressure
Just remove the overpressure mechanic and leave the game at that BR…
Much harder to do than simply moving one vehicle up.
one question, why you should move something that already struggles to deal anything above 3 KM to 8.7?
Like many SPAAs that have guns only
But you can bump this same shitbox because of high explosive overpressure overperformance and its own survivability from belt armor eating spall or any other module reducing potential damage, which always spare one crewmember (nonsense from my part obviously).
As I’ve mentioned: overpressure is overperforming, suddenly shrapnel caused by explosions ignores objects and goes right through armor and kills one or every crewmember, it’s more than obvious that vehicles like these (XM-246) do take advantage of this problem, intentionally or not, which is why, in such changes that could make the game more realistic and in my perspective of view, balanced, a poll isn’t necessary, thanks to this, the proposed APHE changes was heavily declined by the community.
Is that most maps doesn’t exceed 1km² in total (not only playable area) space, is that at close ranges, the Marksman system takes advantage of or any other autocannon vehicle which is more than obvious at this point that it’s performing much better than regular caliber. I’d take an HSTV-L over an M1A2 Abrams in maps like Advance to the Rhine.
AAs in general except few outliers like M247 will struggle against things 3km+ away, your point ?
It’s really strong at 8.3 and should be moved up, it’s simple.
Its simply not a viable and good thing to do tho
Its literally insanely stupid, its like saying the ZA35 its the most broken SPAA,pump it up to 12.0
Its the same logic, the Xm246 wouldnt be able to do ANYTHING against 9.7 strikers
As i said, remove the overpressure system from the AA belt, its pretty easy to do too
This thing as many SPAAs at 8.3,no need to increase BR but remove the overpressure mech…
Much harder than moving one single vehicle to 8.7.
Other 8.3 AAs don’t perform as good as XM246.
In no moment in time I mentioned a radical battle rating change. ZA-35 and ItPSv 90 currently sits at battle rating 8.7 because of: mobility, both don’t exactly share good armor values, which is what XM-246 does have by a lot, and in no moment in time these two is outperforming or underperforming, which XM-246 is, as an anti-air vehicle. Also using your own logic, ZSU-57-2 is a examples of a vehicle that isn’t very good as anti-air vehicle; move it to battle rating 5.7 then.
It uses Gepard guns, the only difference its the its able to shoot more precisely cause the guns are closer to each other, doesnt mean it has to be bumped up at 8.7 by all means
Trust me,ive seen people complaining about that around lmfao, take another look on the MAUS,people either say its too op and needs to be 9.0 and some says it should be lower…
What i want to say is that for some tanks its impossible to balance properly for different reasons but in this case, the best and easiest thing its to remove overpressure belt
It has nothing special to be at 8.7
It shouldnt be as tanky either but thats just volumetric as its finest…it doesnt have that good of mobility either compared to the ZA for obvious reasons
besides that, the Marksman can stay in the rivers and kill people from there without drowning, make it 9.0
For those who cant understand the last phrase ITS A JOKE
Well. The battle rating change should be a temporary change, as @MotorolaCRO mentioned is much more easier moving one vehicle battle rating than changing a whole code, same will be applied to fix the issues with damage absorption by the XM-246’s modules.
This is a exclusive issue of that: the crew is sitting at a high position; the water don’t physically submerge the crew; vehicle stays alive, no matter if the engine magically can keep on if the water level is above if, for the drown mechanic to work the crew needs to be underwater as well, another issue to fix, and that this map’s (Eastern Europe) level was purposely lowered a few months ago, before the AAAV EFV implementation.
That’s not the only difference.
