No mention of agms on dovbleg, best to prepare some bug report for it

No mention of PL-5C being all aspect or not
May need to bug report the following

  1. Add ATGM KD-88, or at least Kh29T to the 4 heavy pylons
  2. The light pylon should be able to use 250kg guided bomb in addition to dump bomb

Another thing of note from the trailer is the cockpit.

Looks nice, but I’m pretty sure that’s the wrong model HUD, and there is some discoloration of other cockpit panels too.

Yeah now I’m definitely a bit concerned. My hope is that their just not ready yet but it would definitely be nice too have some clarification.

@Smin1080p do the developers have any intentions of adding some of the air too ground missles the JH-7A could carry in real life too it’s loadout either before or after the update goes live? As of now it’s a little disappointing too see it completely lacking any guided ordnance except for laser guided bombs

Also worth noting that in the devblog it still seems too be using the same targeting pod found on the Q-5L which is strange cus in the files we saw it getting the more advanced pod I thought

It is very likely that the devblog trailer shot was taken a few days ago, hence it only having older assets & the Older TGP. They mention the 1000 KG LGB in the devblog but have no images of it either.

I hope that’s the situation, but I would definitely like to hear an official statement about the plans for the plane, because as it is right now, its a pretty bare bones loadout compaired too other strike planes

So are we getting an all aspect pl5 or is it just a pl5b clone

I’m not sure yet, the devblog dosnt make it clear what the improvement of the PL-5C is over the B, and I’m hoping the devs/forum moderators will come on too make some comments about the JH-7A soon including about its weapon’s

At 11.7 it should absolutely be an all aspect pl5 but from what i understand irl the pl5c is not an all apsect but just a more reliable pl5b with no actual change to the seeker performance. After what they did to the q5L expect the worst

What I understand is PL-5C is all aspect version of PL-5B, overall improvement.

I’ve heard mixed thaings but something that seemed too convince me otherwise is that the PL-5E(not the EII) is all aspect, and apperently it’s just the export version of the C, so I would then assume the the C is also all aspect. On top of that, the description in the devblog seems too hint that it is infact an improved seeker:
“JH-7A will carry the PL-5С short-range air-to-air missile with improved target sensors.”

hey mig23 random question; to your knowledge, did they ever nerf/change the j8b’s flight model at any point in warthunder

I think what we all want is a pl5 with the seeker performance of the pl8 at least, maybe r73 or aim9m performance if we’re lucky. But that would require pl5e/eii

Honestly it may be better to run 4x PL5C/B over the pL8 so you dont have to worry about selecting the correct IR missile in the weapon selector. Having 2 different IR missiles is honestly a pain imo. Better to run one type

Yeah, and honestly the PL-5B gets the job done in my J-7E, even in full uptiers, and I think thanks too it’s speed and decent seeker, it often has some decent flair resistance once it’s rear aspect under 1 km. So even if the PL-5C is more Aim-9L like with it’s seeker, that’s still a very nice change and will make this missle alot more dangerous.

Actually, how does the PL-8 seeker compare too the 9L? Does it have the same or better flair resistance?

its 1:1 identical in terms of flares

Well then it must be pretty decent then since currently even the 9L seems too have decent flair resistance in rear aspect

but 9L is the lead pursuit but the PL8 is the reaching the tail, its much easier to see the flares in PL8
