Xi'an JH-7, History, Performance & Discussion

The reports have been successful and Gajjin has acknowledged the AGM’s and they have been passed as a suggestion. The problem then becomes, when will we see them added? In this sense we just don’t know what the devs plans are for the JH-7A

do you have links to the reports?

anyway, that has always been a problem with Gaijin. it takes them at least a year before they add user-suggested loadouts.

Yo nay, I had not had the chance to reach out and ask how are you liking the JH?

When the jet was confirmed this patch, I oddly immediately remembered the probably 2-year old conversation and prediction it would come to game back in the RR topic of the old forum. So been meaning to ask.

This was the largest thread that many others got linked too after a bunch of people made similar reports on the JH-7A

…are you not using the weapon selection system?

Well so the chinese GBUs got renamed to the correct designations. Still no other missing weaponry on neither the Q-5L or the JH-7.

Really? I’m impressed gajjin even decided too listen as they seemed to disagree with the names…

I am, but sometimes i just doesn’t wanna shoot for some reason.

Well so far my experience in the JH-7A has been pretty positive. It does surprisingly well in air RB thanks too it’s good flight performance and decent missles, and it also does surprisingly well in ground RB thanks too the GB1000’s.
While the lack of fire and forget weapons in the air too ground role is disappointing, the good targeting pod, and great prefromance of the GB1000 still allow the JH-7A too be a powerful CAS plane, that’s able too effectively outrange and deal with most SPAA just by simply dropping the bombs from high altitude, and flying side on too the SPAA from a safe distance as you guide the bomb in.
With this strategy I’ve been able to pick off SPAA, and also keep some distance from the battlefield in general while I attack targets.

Does anyone know the actual weight of the JH-7A is the first model is showing extremely heavy. How light did it get?

Gaijin messed up a simple renaming fix. They changed the 500kg bomb to GB-500J and 1000kg bomb to GB-1000J respectively, which are both wrong lol. It seems they just global replaced LS with GB and didn’t bother to check the names actually used in the photos. Looks like a new issue is required.

Can we expect LS-6 or similar long range glide bombs for it?Those could help it to destroy toptier SPAAs.

Thank you @NAYEONnaise for asking the question

I think it’s healthy for sub communities within the game too help advocate for their interests, so long as they do so in a productive and respectful manner when they engage with the devs and community managers. Personally I’ve taken a large interest in China as I believe it’s going too be one of the more important nations in the game as war thunder goes into the future, and will offer interesting and diverse alternatives too nations such as the USSR and USA. I enjoy both of the mentioned nations, but I’ve played both for so long, and Chinas been a nice break too try something familiar yet different, and honestly it’s already pretty fun, with a lot of room for improvement, both in the air and ground!

They do this habitually with PLA-produced aircraft. Loadouts seem to be decided on by what Gaijin wants the plane to be, and all evidence that anything else might be possible is ignored aggressively. Gaijin wants it to be a Chinese Jaguar/F-105/Su-17 with some basic laser guided bomb capability, and so that’s all it’s allowed to be. It’s infuriating.

Where is the radar lead indicator?

You think a modern Chinese jet has such a thing? Preposterous! If that is the truth, then you should have ample evidence to prove such claims!

Yeah, I doubt we’ll ever get that on this plane considering any single minor thing on Chinese planes we have to prove they have it… Even when I eventually write my bug report on the missing modes on the JL-10A radar set, they are going to twist the “close combat mode” into like the ACM mode and say “the computer and HUD magically do not have the capacity for target lead indication” or some other BS and demand more ‘evidence’. It’s honestly very frustrating and I fear the J-10 is gonna get done dirty when we get it…

Noticed something a little interesting, War thunder just made an official video talking about the JH-7A, and the thumbnail is the same image and scean from a CCTV thumbnail of the plane.

What’s interesting is that this image they chose too recreate is on of the few IRL images of the JH-7A carrying Kh-29’s…

I think they are trying to say,no matter what sources you bring to us we are still not going to add Kh 29.
