Wait, they rejected it for saying they are export bombs? Um, what? The LS series is a first generation guided bombs that relies on a wind direction head to determine how to guide itself. The GB series, which is the same as calling it TS, which we already have the TS-250 (GB-250) in game, uses a dual mode guidance system and has a stabilized gyroscope head instead. I surely hope this is just a rejection based off of naming differences.
@_David_Bowie does it even matter if it is indeed the LD-10 and not Pl-12? The radar is capable of guiding Pl-12’s and the mounts/attachments are identical.
What makes this situation more confusing is that the LS1000J just dosnt seem to exist. I can’t find a single picture or even mention of it, which leads me too believe that maybe gajjin really has just confused the LS-1000J as a different name for one of their more modern bombs
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is infact the Laser guided bomb gajjin meant when they said LS1000J. Perhaps they just misunderstood the Chinese naming system? Wouldn’t be the first time. Problem is, that the devblog dosnt show us the 1000kg bomb, only the 500kg one we already have in game
The guided bomb in the picture is the YJ1000 ground penetrating guided bomb, similar to a semi penetrating guided bomb, but I can hardly find any information related to the LS1000J guided bomb
Like I said, I think it’s very possible that Gajjin meant one of the more modern bombs, but due too a misunderstanding, gave it the name of the older series. Unfortunately the devblog dosnt show us and the model isn’t physically in the files so we’ll have too wait until the update too see i guess.
Yes, I think JH7A should be equipped with GB series guided bombs and YJ1000, but I don’t know why. Gaijin seems to consider the GB series as the export version of the LS series, but in fact, the GB series is much better in both pneumatic and guidance methods than the LS series
@Smin1080p is their any way you could shed some light on what the LS1000J bomb is? I don’t believe we see it in the images on the devblog and no one can seemingly provide a source or image associated with a bomb using that exact name, so we’re curious if the devs have potentially used a different name too describe a more modern Chinese laser guided bomb that might also go by a different name
I found two photos of GB1000 and TG1000 (天戈1000), and they appears to to be identical. GB1000 should be the export version of TG1000.
Edit: maybe not, GB1000 is probably an upgraded TG1000 with the option to carry ground-penetrating warhead.
More like both are export products that were eventually adopted by PLAAF. That’s why in the 2nd photo you see the TG bomb is displayed in a military expo. It just got a name change from TG to GB.
I did a little more research, and here is what I found:
LT-2/LS-500J: 2006 Zhuhai air show (Used on Q-5L)
TG-1000: 2012 Zhuhai Air Show
“The most exciting thing is that the Tian Ge series of laser-guided bombs had no “wind heads”, which indicates that it uses a gyro-stabilized seeker, the proportion guided control system, the overall tactical technical indicators have reached or approached the level of the US Paveway-3, thus indicating that China has taken a big step forward in laser guided weapons.”
GB-1000: 2014 Zhuhai Air Show
“This series of bombs can attack large-scale solid ground targets, such as underground command centers, reinforced hangars, and transportation hubs, with all-weather combat capabilities.”
So I suppose GB-1000 is an improved TG-1000 with the option to carry ground-penetrating warhead.
GB-1000 is different from LS series completely.
So far in the game, the PL-8/Python 3 is easier to capture flares than the PL-5B due to its larger seeker instantaneous field of view. It does not have similar performance to the R-73 or AIM-9M.
Moreover, when performing tail pursuit shooting at low altitude, the range of PL-8/Python 3 is slightly lower than that of PL-5B (2.9km vs. 2.7km at sea level). I think this is a weapon with similar performance to the AIM-9L in the game. It has more powerful maneuverability than the AIM-9L, but has weaker anti-jamming capabilities. Overall, it is inferior to the AIM-9M, R-73 and Matra R550 Magic II. The most successful way to use this weapon is to launch the missile from high above the target. The missile will hit the enemy aircraft with a larger tracking ratio, which will make it less likely to capture the flares.
Well then depending on how the seeker is in the PL-5C, it may very well be superior too the PL-8 in a funny twist. Still holding out hope we get too see missles such as the PL-5EII and PL-9’s soon
Hmm it may just be limited all aspect like the r60, i HOPE its the aim9L pl8 seeker range. Definitely no chance of irccm on it though as that would be the pl5e/eii
Yeah, pl8 has better delta v but in practice pl5 is capable of extremely long range shots even after the drag changes to missiles. I always preferred pl5s to the pl8. Im guessing the pl8 is really draggy because it doesn’t like going very far low altitude and its an absolute chonker of a missile
