Xi'an JH-7, History, Performance & Discussion

Well we can essentially split J-11A into 3 performance groups.

Batch 00 - 01(J-11): N001E rated to track at 65km but the Chinese reported in an engagement with Gripen they would detect at 120km and lock at 50km plus could only TWS one target. This batch was generally of the poorer quality early on so not all units were up to SK standard. China’s SU-27UBKs also used this radar set. I’d say the radar set performs about the same if not worse in terms of lock and detection but N010M on the 29 has a proper TWS function.

Batch 02 (J-11A) - Slightly upgraded from SK standard and replaced the previous batch in service with N001VE rated to track at 70KM on a 5m2 target and TWS 2 targets including with FOX1’s.

Batch 03-04 (J-11A still) - Ingame the biggest difference would be MAWS but it should also be lighter due to the electronics upgrades plus these batches exceded the SK standard and doubled the life cycle of AL-31 along with slightly more thrust.

Even with J-11B the Chinese mechanical set is slightly worse than its Russian Z010MS. This is thanks to a fairly late diversion of funding to J-10B(J-10A was found to be fundamentally better in every aspect including radar) over J-11 although the new AESA sets are world-leading. However, J-11B’s radar set is also significantly lighter than its Russian competitors.

Seems only 2 Kh29T

I believe the J-11B radar, Type 1474, is not PESA
Only fighter in PLAAF service that uses PESA radar is J-10B

we dont have too much PESA like russia cause we our AESA is already matured few years ago

After all, China has upgraded a large number of J-11B to J-11BG, and Pesa has upgraded AESA.

Haha yea thats me misreading my book about it competing with Z010MS. Thanks!

Im seeing great things on the dev server for China right now! As for the JH-7A, we now finally see some modern 250kg laser guided bombs and the Kh-29T! My only issue is that we are restricted to 2 instead of the 4 that should be possible.

in the event that the issue isnt an accident or hasnt been noticed, i made a report, so if yall wanted to show your report that would be greatly appreciated!

ok, unfortunately it has been confirmed as intentional, since the photo evidence is only for the 2 most inner pylons, they are taking it at face value…

i think TrickZZter is just a china hater, ZTL11’s steering device issue is been told not a bug before all because of him😂

Well, I think we’ve done all we can for the JH-7A right now, so thank you all so much for the work you’ve put in to trying to get this plane buffed. That payoff this update is very rewarding, as we now have a much more capable CAS jet, easily up their with some of the best in game. I look forward to this update, and am definitely looking forward to whatching china grow!

so it can take 4 KH29T in dev server right now?

Only two

:( OK, that means we still need to do something

If you look up in the thread I made a report, but it was turned down as I technically “couldn’t prove” that it can carry 4, as our only evidence in the first place was a pic of it carrying 2 only

You could make a case for it if you know what pylon mount it uses and if we’ve seen that pylon on the other pylon as well in addition with the weight limit for that pylon.

so the outer pylons can carry 250kg GBU too?

Yes for a total of 6 GB250

I think I’ll let someone else make that post at this point. It’s frustrating as there is no room for a convo to happen, I just try and point out that the 4 inner pylons could support all 4 Kh-29’s and he just says “no proof” and shuts it down

don’t get surprised if a REDACTED document leak occurs again within the weeks thanks to GJ’s ignorance and close-mindedness.

Hard pill to swallow, but said people are villains you will always have an understanding for.
