Xi'an JH-7, History, Performance & Discussion

Are u kidding? Check what i have showed and tell me whether the JL-10A radar can fire PL11 or not

The one on the right is a console, not the radar itself. It can be used for both sy80 and jl10, and only the one on the left is sy80.

Wingtip pylons support up to 100kg, PL-8 is 115~ kg.

No. The radar used by JH-7 is called SY-232H, a kind of monopulse radar. JL-10A was miniaturized into JL-10AG or let’s say, JL-10G, for J-7G and J-7L. Later the SY-80 came out as an export type of JL-10G.

The radar of JH-7A is JL-10A. During the development, the CWI function was added to fire Aspide.

Hello MiG_23M, I really appreciate for the effort you have made for J-8F’s radar and PL12.
If you do not understand Chinese, please let me translate some sentences.
The functional state of the radar has a development process:
the JL-10 radar in 1990 has four basic states: VS, HRWS-STT, MRWS-STT, LRWS-STT;
The JL-10 A (prototype C) in 1995 added 4 states: CWI, TWS, GM, DBS;
The JL-10 A (prototype S) in 1997 with six additional states: ACM, AGR, SEA, BCN, BIT, WS.

——sentences from 《 我国第一部脉冲多普勒雷达研制历程》, author of which are 朱克昕 杨 春.

CWI means ‘Continuous Wave Illuminator’. In 1991, when they began development of the new PD radar (JL-10A), the main points of the initial idea included crosslinking with CWI so that Aspide could be fired.

Compare the pictures above, I believe the missile carried by JH-7A is a variant of Kh-29T. As is known to all PLAAF bought quite a few Kh-29Ts as one of the supporting equipment for Su-30MKK.

So still less advanced than some of the Chinese missles it can receive, as I believe many of them have a seeker capable of using thermal imaging too find target contrast

I mean, the F-16C is arguably one of the best CAS planes in game right now so they have no place too cry

By the way, I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but I’m assuming the JH-7A has a very modern RWR?

Q5L and J7E have modern rwr too in the WT. I think the JH7 get modern rwr too.

It’s PL-8 again, gaijin is not even willing to make PL-8B, so as to benchmark AIM-9M

if i may ask, is KD-88 laser or TV-guided?

I think the C-704 is out best bet, as it’s the closest equivalent too the Kh-29T

There’s a couple variants but their TV guided, however, unlike current TV weapons, they have extreme range and can be sent too a certain direction only for the backseater too use data link too then drive the missle too a target

Tv guided with ir seeker

You may be disappointed - the JH-7A has a good radar and great acceleration, but it’s not very maneuverable. The high wing load and flight characteristics that make wing drop prone make it difficult to cope with dogfighting environments. Of course, I hope that the PL-8 missile can improve this to some extent.

Q5L accessory development point callback, JH7A may not be completed before version update

Which makes me guess the update is going to drop tomorrow
