Wth is wrong with mirage flight model?

Got nicked in the wing once, damage preview barely painted it yellow and flight performance went to oblivion resulting in flat spin.

Flight model should get revisioned by devs.

Edit: for some reason post got hidden as it was flagged as inappropriate, I wonder who could get offended by it.

that’s all delta wing aircraft. Once one side is damaged it causes more drag. You notice this at any speed but the slower you go the less control you have because of that damage.

Well, it definitely shouldn’t be like that. I can understand when tail is lost and aircraft loses stabilization, but single hit in the wing makes it flat spin is absurd.

From what it looks like to me you lost most of your speed because you were constantly making sharp turns as all delta wing planes are prone to do in War Thunder. Your speed didn’t drop immediately after you got hit, it dropped before as you turned into the other plane and increased again after you were hit when you stopped turning so the hit didn’t slow you down. At low speeds the damage to your left wing decreases it’s lift generation causing the right wing flip over at low speed because the ailerons aren’t as effective at low speed to counter it. That is why pilots are taught to not apply to much rudder during low speeds and to use the turn and slip indicator.

From the server replay (Link: https://warthunder.com/en/tournament/replay/343168827549216948 ) more than half of your left wing was orange and you hard turned several times after the damage happened. I honestly don’t see anything wrong here (though you were unlucky in how much damage that one hit did).

Losing control like that at 400 km/h from 1 bullet hole in wing seems to me like over exaggeration of damage/flight model.

P.S. How did you enable damage indicator in replay? Can’t see it anywhere.

You can use the key bind for “X-ray (show vehicle modules)” :)
