Would other HIFV's break the game? (Heavy IFV)

Heavy BMP-2M (T-15)

Heavy 2S38 (T-15 Variant)

Hello, I’d like to discuss the future of HIFV’s being added into War Thunder, how they would be balanced if added, and if they would or would not be hard to balance.

To Start, what is an HIFV? A HIFV or Heavy IFV is a heavily armored version of an IFV, usually based on an MBT’s Chassis, to enhance survivability and protection. Personally, I love Heavy IFVs and would like to see more added to the game.

With the addition of the BMPT into the game, it has added 2 more HIFV’s into the game, making the total count to 4 HIFV’s in game, the other 2 being the Israeli Namer 30 and Namer Tsrikhon (You could class the PUMA and KF41 as HIFV’s, which in that case, there are 6 HIFV’s)

But speaking of the BMPT, the BMPT has quickly built a reputation of being OP, and a broken vehicle in-game, which makes me worry about the future of HIFVs in the game if they would be too hard to balance. On the contrary, the Namer’s hasn’t really built a reputation of anything good, really, at least to my knowledge.

This post is not supposed to be a “how to balance the BMPT” rant or anything, but instead to tackle the idea of HIFVs, whether if they would be hard to balance or not, and why, and to also look at HIFVs that could be added into the game, and if so, if they would become problematic or not.

Because honestly, I have no idea if other HIFV’s would be broken like the BMPT, or lackluster like the Namer’s

Up for your interpretation of other HIFVs being added into the game or not.

BMPT and BMPT-72 are not infantry fighting vehicles, they’re tank support vehicles, not an official category of vehicles used today, just a general sub-category for vehicles not made for infantry support. Vehicles like VN20, Barbaris and its variations would naturally serve at higher battle rating as more armored alternatives to their base model main battle tank sonely because of the design like the engine deck at the front and heavy armor to drive along main battle tanks in real battlefield scenarios.

I still have trauma from the 8.3 Puma

I wouldn’t worry about it since Gaijin generally just wants cool stuff in their game

No, because they are not the carriers of the Holy Russian Federation. They can only get half of the protection in reality, and cannot slaughter with 13.0br protection at 10.7br like the carriers of the Holy Slavic Empire.

It is to my opinion that balancing them shouldn’t be hard as long as it’s done well. The BMPTs have just inherited the “Russian bias”.
Jokes aside, I expect the BMPT to have a BR increase and since it’s been days from its introduction it is normal to a certain extent for a vehicle to be absolute trash or OP (issue would come if the BMPTs didn’t get any type of balancing or a very small change which didn’t affect anything).
The Namers are too heavy and minimally armored (as I’ve said multiple times it weighs, according to the game, 1 ton less than a Merkava Mk4M) being its weigh 64.4T whilst the Merkavas weigh around 65.5T, thus the balancing issues.
That said, if it’s done well balance shouldn’t be a problem but we still have to wait and see how the Game developers handle the recent issues.

Definetly the T-15 Armata its going to break the game, I bet they are also gonna add it undertiered.

Also maybe the Namer and Achzarit (lower br) if armor and spike modeled accurate (doubt).

We’re gonna see the T-15 armata with the 57mm autocannon module come in at BR 9.7

This and AFT10 (for China) - yes, please.

BMPT only broke the game due to a Few Ahistorical Design choices by Gaijin like the fact that the Ammo belt thaz goes into the tank is counted as External and Destroying it won’t kill the crew like on every other tank

so for every other tank like it it matters only if Gaijin gives it OP bugs or not

once the BMPTs get their realistic Ammo explosion mechanic and go to a BR they belong (11.0+) then they won’t be OP anymore

tbf no# 3 and 5 arent heavy IFVs. at least not game breaking ones

The problem arises when those IFVs resist more than they should and have a lower Br than they should.

Puma, at least, was never immortal like that thing that was deliberately broken, look at this in 11:30 :

He should definitely move up to top Tier.
