Would anybody consider “Chinese Bias” to be a thing in either air or ground?

That 1 second gap is widening further from the drag reduction.

120A/Bs are going from 147kg to 156kg. While the force is increased from 22000 to 26000 for first stage, burn time is reduced from 1.7s to 1.4s. 120C/Ds have similar changes, but I haven’t gotten to the numbers yet.

A fraction of a second widening by a fraction of a second is still within a second. It doesn’t matter.

the 120C/D got a flat drag reduction nothing else

AIM-120C/Ds have unchanged motors and weights. They are identical. There is no change to them besides their drag coefficient, or how much force is applied on them by the air resistance.
CxK went from 1.405 → 1.225. That is the single number that changed for them.

And it’s still not a fraction of a second. It’s often multiple seconds.

Then I’ll concede that only C/Ds gotten a true buff. I stand by my point that A/Bs are overall nerfed, however.

Only at more extreme ranges, like past 30km. Within 20km its often within 1s difference. So turning performance is more important because it is a more tangible benefit.

30km is not an extreme range. 30-50km is a standard first engagement distance, while 20-30km is a standard jousting distance after first engagement.
It shrinks to maybe 10-15km but otherwise you can just force yourself to… not get closer…

These are still ranges where kills are very much not guaranteed. Missiles take way too long to reach target and people can either go cold or notch immediately. Firing at these distances are great for pressuring, but I wouldn’t expect my shots to hit.

Try outrunning a mach 2 rafale.

I didn’t think this is an air sim post

I have no idea
I’m no expert on how missiles perform irl

The simple fact that you can sparrow roll it makes no sense to me though

i never said that they out perform them im just saying they are basically copy pastes of russian vehicles but they have a good reverse gear

No kill is guaranteed. I’ve notched MICAs within 3km before, and I’ve hit >50km AIM-120D shots.

And also you’re not supposed to outrun the rafale. You’re just supposed to retain a distance where your missiles preform best and his do not. MICAs are much shorter range missiles than AMRAAMs, so… don’t let him force a close fight if you can.

Only a few of them have better reverse gear iirc. Things like ZTZ-96s and early 99s have that typical russian reverse.

That is true, but the name of the game is maximizing hit probability. And in War Thunder, the most reliable way to do that, is giving enemies less time to react. How do we give enemies less time to react? By launching closer. And that is why the meta is close range missile jousting.

Yeah, basically how to fight a rafale in any non rafale ever too. I’m saying however, that you don’t have an unlimited number of missiles to keep him at bay. And he can just sit in the notch forever if you keep the distance.

Actually it’s not less time to react, it’s more of “forcing the enemy into a worse position”. You do that via forcing notches at any time possible, ergo, pressuring via missiles.

Time to react stops mattering when the time to target is so long that anyone with their head on a swivel can react in time easily.

Also yes, that’s just how you play AIM-120 equipped jets ngl. He doesn’t have as many missiles either. So it becomes a waiting game, or, “who can notch better”.

People are more liable to be in a worse position when they have less time to react. A problem that you have all day to deal with is easier than one you have 5 seconds to deal with.

which is why we close the distance, and why HOBs missiles remain the meta.

Think of it this way. 120 carriers are low ceiling planes. Their good speed and distance allows you to sling them further, but those same long distances reduces your chance to kill. While R-77 carriers are high ceiling planes. You can’t sling them from as far, but they are way more likely to hit at short range + you can fire them from more defensive positions.

That is why the meta favors the 77-1 and mica. They can be fired from near invulnerable positions. You can’t do this with 120s.

Ehhhh… I still feel as if this isn’t exactly true.
But you can have your beliefs. I just think AIM-120 is a great missile series, and will get even better this coming update.

Wow! That’s really interesting. Players who purchased the F14D package only got to experience one version in advance. They spent several hundred dollars to obtain a title. I think the influence of American players is not to be underestimated.

I would agree. Not necessarily Americans as the nationality (i.e. Americans) but people who play the tech tree (i.e. USA mains). USA mains were incredibly upset by it and asked for it, so recieved it.

In the end, decisions are tied to the number of people supporting them and the money behind it. Hence why a nationailty like China has such pull. Or a group of players like USA mains has such pull.

*I should clarify my comment is not designed to hate on people of a certain nationality. Its simply an observation.

Was for a while. The Chinese players really kicked off and Gaijin pulled out all the stops for them for a couple of updates. Like they literally got everything good. (end of 2024)

Then they stopped. Im surprised with all the PL-12 changes backlash they havent panicked like they did before
