one of my friends i joust with was actually saying 30sm2 has terrible defenses, i can’t fully disagree. the lack of a maws isnt that important. there are some places where its good, you can launch while in a notch so the missile is going at the target at a weird angle for the target to expect the notch angle, but against experienced players its not that important.
i can agree on thrust vectoring, even though i didnt have an issue with my enemy su30’s having thrust vectoring while i am in the rafale, i do beat rafales and eurofighters with it. thrust vectoring is good for dogfights.
it might be just the players im facing that cant play the sm2 right then because i reliably kill it in a joust in air rb. i dont play the sm2 that much, i dont find it interesting enough
lol fr that’s what I thought wouldn’t that cook the pilot but don’t worry its super unconfirmed since all the data Chinese players could find is a few articles which the suggestion mod says is not a reliable source
it isn’t realistic, unfortunately. j16 doesn’t have side facing array, if it did it would have a radeom or whatever it was called in its side, it doesn’t have it.
I do like that Chinese players got so serious when the j16 didn’t have the correct engine afterburn color and the correct canopy color it looks so much better now and for the pl12s nerfs a bug report about it got accepted which would I think fix its pulling problem but I still think j16 wont be as good as it can until pl15s come (next update?)
Another thing is that one would expect these extreme angle capable aesa that point the beam almost backwards, to have noticeable weaker range when doing so, but in WT they work just as fine as when looking straight ahead

yyyeaaah nah. j16 was supposed to be one of the best 4.5 fighters of china irl, but it probably wont be like that in the game.
it wasnt just that they got the afterburner color wrong, they got the whole engine wrong. with the new engine, its lighter, has more thrust and has its correct afterburner color. that gives a serious boost that a lot of people don’t realize
and guys guess what if you hated golden eagles BR the aim120 is getting BUFFED!
exactly. i mean, it cant guide the r27er’s at its gimbal limit of 100-110 degrees let alone 120, but its supposed to be WAAAY weaker, yet it isnt.

Yeah J16 is good only thing cucking it imo is the a2a and the hmd
china will have something playable, finally. normal countermeasures, not bad airframe, and nice engines. the only thing left to do is actually working pl12’s that arent rollable. or randomly decides to proxy yet do no damage.
it does proxy at the correct range, it just does no damage. this happens way too often, one time a viggen in the dev server just ate like a bunch of my pl12’s with NO DAMAGE AND HIT but died to my cannons. its like ghost shells, but in air.
sorry for the deafening music. i turned off seperate audio recording in medal because it had issues and forgot to turn it back on, which is why i cant turn down the music.

There is that one photo floatining around the forum of a radar with those side looking arrays and a text stand next to it, saying this is intended for J16. To my memory, that is.
Its an absolutely terrible source and should not be taken at face value, but it is there. It exists.
Now, lets take a look at a source for Irbis radar on SM2. Oh yeah…

i reaaaallly doubt that. even if china decides for some reason that their j16’s need side facing arrays, it isnt happening tomorrow.
and the dual racks that it doesnt have… its just a su35 but with 30sm2 name. now imagine what the 35 will be like, because it already has everything 35 has. irbis radar, 35 engines, dual racks that only the 35 has but 30sm2 doesnt…
but god forbid adding the same thing to j16 because it isnt realistic.

Point is, even this crappy source for j16 is orders of magnitude better than the source there is for sm2’s radar.
One plane got its imaginary radar added no questions asked. The other will be forever stuck with default 140deg regardless of anything. Which one is which you can guess.
As for dual racks, at least you can argue they SHOULD be compatable. Thats something. For the sm2’s radar there is actually nothing. Yet here we are.
