^ This, or toggle on/off
This should not be a question about were ther or not it should be added. It should have been in the game ever since there was a tank that didn’t use clutch braking.
People like to talk about about how gaijin is lazy and here we have a perfect example. Every tank drives like a WW2 tank becuse you didn’t bother to add in a proper steering system for more modern tanks.
So obviously it should be added to every vehicle in the capacity that it can and should be.
Just picture the traffic jams in narrow passes like these
And what if someone stops or crashes? Pure chaos.

It was only horrendous because it was triggered not only by HE but AP as well. In short - it was just poorly tuned. Giving hulls HP and make only explosives deplete it, and for example set different treshholds for each vehicle/type, would be a great way to prevent MBTs tanking 50kg+ explosion 3 times in a row. No tuning will allow ovepressure to make HE work realistic, only hull break can achieve that. There are simpler methods but we won’t see them since developers insists on simulations.
Easy. You slow down
On complete stop the neutral steering kicks is and it will be just fine. Also people jam there all the time with current system, lmao.
Was having lunch. Here you go;
as a toggle would be great but i feel like in some tense situations you might forget to toggle it? itd be nice if it only worked when you were holding W and steering or maybe turned off if youre braking while steering?
With the current steering mechanics on live servers, you don’t need to do any of that. So why should we vote for a mechanic that makes controls worse and more complicated?
・The differential steering system on the current DEV server has a critical bug where torque spikes dramatically during turns, preventing players from experiencing the system’s true performance. This renders the testing meaningless.
Effectively, this bug makes it seem as though the vehicle suddenly has two engines while turning.
・Gaijin claims that the turning radius increases as speed rises, but this is inaccurate. In reality, the turning radius is determined by the gear currently selected in the main transmission; it is not directly linked to the tank’s speed. (While vehicles with speed-dependent turning radii did exist historically, the specific vehicles being tested here do not operate that way.)
・Historically, very few vehicles—especially modern MBTs—allow the differential steering system to be toggled on or off during operation. This is because the benefits provided by differential steering are indispensable for modern tanks; the option to disable it is simply not a consideration.
In other words, this feature should not be equated with the “AoA limiter override” found on aircraft (which is relatively common in the real world). I believe the choice should be binary: either implement the steering system fully or not at all.
・Although they do not use differential steering, Eastern-bloc vehicles also commonly feature systems where the turning radius is restricted based on the selected gear. This applies to most Soviet MBTs from the T-72 and T-64 era onwards. Therefore, if differential steering is implemented, some form of corresponding adjustment will be required for Eastern-bloc vehicles as well.
Nice try pulling a fast one, my dear friend. Now go record a video in the Leopard 2
Don’t ask questions, answers for which you are ignoring. You already was told billion times - it can be made togglable, you keep ignoring that.
This also makes the tank unable to change gears, reduce throttle or use brakes whilst steering. There is quite a fundamental issue with the current implementation.
Almost like, for 72 hours, we’ve been saying:
“Leopard 2’s configuration is flawed and should perform more akin to Type 10’s upon polishing.”
Type 10 has regenerative steering. I drove across Tunisia with Type 10.
No, all these responses are just unconvincing.
Sim absolutely should be forced joystick aiming. but otherwise, that doesn’t apply here because it effects the mouse aiming mechanics and that is different.
I don’t care about the opinions of those who can’t accept any kind of change at all.
How “make it optional” is unconvincing?
Which dev actually said that’s how it’s gonna be? I think you guys just convinced yourselves of this and are now trying to persuade other players
Well regenerative steering would be better for maintaining high speed. Also benefit tanks with low horsepower and allow them to turn without losing all their momentum. It’s a compromise.
In the game it is the same, it depends on a gear. On manual you can drive way better. Imo the issue on the dev is with bad automatic gear option, it lacks responsibility and forces players to wait too long for driver to gear down and allow for a turn.
And also some bugs with torque…
