Work-In-Progress: Regenerative Steering — Should We Add It? Try It & Leave Your Feedback!

@Ravanex @SPANISH_AVENGER I have an idea…not sure if I’ll do it but here’s a “teaser” I guess.

The current implementation of regenerative steering could probably use some changes here and there, but even in its current form it’s a massive improvement over what we’ve had up until now and is something that is long overdue.

So a massive YES from me.

In what situation will tanks be there and somehow you won’t be dead already? Are you driving backwards?

So, you are driving at 8th gear and at great speed and somehow an enemy materialized behind your flank, or you are driving rear towards enemies for some reason on a tank with a hump… Sounds like not an issue of steering, in both unlikely situations you will be dead.

Also, remember, that all tanks will have it, not just abrams/leopard/put_a_name_here. So your enemies will have an advantage and disadvantage as well.

Cool, but you are trading extra speed in a straight line for no more fast turns in a game that 80% of maps are urban roads.

you still gonna lose 2-3 sec which is a vital time… You gonna take longer to turn and making noise with your engine.

Uh…I’m not saying the system is perfect, but Gaijin needs to tweak how regen steering works overall anyway for it to work well, as shown above with my own testing.

You already make noise with ur engine just turning in game currently…so idek what’s the argument here.

Newsflash: 1,500hp engines that power up 60 ton death machines make noise.

Ayyyyy…

We should get it, It provides more overall uses that the current break system we have in game.

My only concern is how would this treat tanks like the T-72s that do not have regen steering? do they get to toggle it on/off too?
Personally the more I think about it the more I think it the more I think it should just be forced on for all vehicles that use it. It is after all a hard performance metric just like power to weight ratios and reverse speed, how well would a toggle to let T-series turn off their limited revers speed and use the same system as Type 10s that go as fast backwards as forwards be received? A toggle for regen steering is effectively the same thing.

No, I still think its bit excessive in the vid. It should move smoothly but in the 1st video it just gets pushed out of turn way too much. Almost like its experiencing both oversteer and understeer at the same time.

Maybe its just a traction problem.

They simply wouldnt get it. I dont think that would be an issue

I would hope not, but I believe there are several of planes that currently have the “cobra button” in game that cannot override their AOA limiters IRL.
I just think anything with regen steering should get regen steering, stuff with clutch braking should get clutch braking end of story. other wise its like asking for a toggle to turn off the induced drag of a delta wing so it doesn’t bleed speed in a turn (well it’s the opposite of that, they want the speed bleed of clutch breaking, but you get what I mean).

If anything there are still jets lacking this feature based on specific Gaijin restrictions regarding adding it. Tornados or F-14s for example dont get this feature while they very well could.

They said that the SPAA problem should be fixed this Update

Yes, there is both, I didn’t mention the ones that should have it as it seemed beside the point that if Gaijin allows the toggling of regen steering, it could well apply to tanks that do not have it IRL as they have already done something similar with planes.

I can only imagine how good this will be once it gets its correct 852ps engine with that regen steering

“oh my god guys it’s a massive nerf”

I’ll never understand where this “80% of maps are urban” comes from… I looked at ground maps appearing on higher tiers and there is like 9 fully urban maps and 31!!! maps that are not city maps…

There are 7*8 maps (with new falklands map) and out of them there are like… 10 low br and 10 fully urban maps.
