Work-In-Progress: Regenerative Steering — Should We Add It? Try It & Leave Your Feedback!

It’s on clutch steering too, test the M113 thing I said above.

Yeah having yet another vote would be absolutely pointless with this community. They are scared of any change regarding gameplay. In fact regenerative steering is not just some change/buff/nerf. Its a long overdue fix and implementation of one of the most basic features of modern vehicles.

Damn, thank you for this idea! We have another great tank. Not as good as the M41 but still pretty good, sometimes it’s even a bit too agile lol

Day night difference compared to live

As with anything really, it benefits heavier tanks the most. Which is why I’m surprised the Challenger 2s aren’t getting it first.

Yeah… just like ATGMs or HESH

Definitely add to the game.
Also definitely needs polishing.

yea that’s because of the inertia. Especially compared to other mediums the Panther is really really sluggish

Sorry for bothering you again but could you try Strv 103?

Puma is interesting, it can be really agile when it wants to but there is a pretty big difference in turning radius between gear 6 and 7. Also sometimes the brakes just feel super strong? Like I tap S and it stops immediately. At 0:12 you can see it go from 6th gear to neutral instantly

How exactly does the user mission work, like do you have to tweak any parameters yourself or do you just apply regen steering to the tank and the game does the rest?

Here is the original comment. If you get into the Customization menu of a vehicle and click on that magic wand to create a skin folder you can get any vehicle’s name. Then just copy paste into the file. The original mission is on the test drive map, if you’d like Poland let me know and I’ll tell what I changed

It doesn’t feel bad but that A and D pushing the tank forward bug is pretty bad in both the A and the C.

And sadly I can’t test Hull Aiming. Maybe someone else can figure out how to add that or we can ask @Poi-tato

alright

Add it for realism.

Can you make ww1 a7v for lulz or some wheeled tank, wonder how broken it will be :P

Damn, VT5 is also very good! It actually feels like the current handling except it keeps it’s speed in the corners. Definitely another example of how regen steering should work.

And it can drift

I also think that another button to toggle something that essential on/off like 5 times until youre in position every match to get the best use of mobility early match isn’t very convenient.

But, since -as i understood from someone here saying so- regeneerative steering and at the same time braking on one track for sharper turns isnt realistic and not possible irl, wouldnt something like what MAUSWAFFE proposed work similar to allow sharper turns but at cost of speed (but maybe still not as gocart like as with the current steering)?

Like the utility of the steering going to something like CC1, shifting down, as soon as you release w (or even hold “brake”) relative to which direction youre moving to do so? would that be more realistic?

Now, thats still me talking without having tested it on the dev server (it might already be quite good for lots of vehicles - i couldn’t know), just me being a bit afraid that certain tanks with weird gear ratios like it seems to be the case for Leos will have a hard time maneuvering in cqc. While already struggling with the gun depression limitation. On certain maps it will be a real struggle as soon as theres lots of wrecks making it even tighter…
