I guess in Gaijin’s world, those 67 tons are mostly made of air. It’s the only explanation.

I heard a rumor that Gaijin originally had no intention of giving the Leopard 2A8 to Germany. They only planned to introduce it to the Swedish tech tree. They allegedly built the Swedish 2A8 model first, and the German 2A8 we got is just a lazy copy-paste modified from it. If this is true, it perfectly explains why the German model is so full of errors and bugs.

I don’t think that’s true, I doubt, even by Gaijin standards, that they really were planning to add a FOURTH Swedish uparmored Leopard while leaving Germany rotting with 1 xD
Now, at least Germany got their 2nd as Sweden got their 4th…

cause its badly made at least on Dev but i have no hope for the 2A8 to get any kind of Armor fix as it even has the old 2A7V armor bug

Actually to make a more critical argument, information is being asked about a vehicle that is pretty hard if not impossible to attain without risking classified information
And we all know, leaking is not a good thing
So…I think gaijin needs to rethink their method of implimenting modern vehicles
Not really much we can do if information is being asked that can’t be provided and meanwhile the vehicle is being implimented anyway
We sometimes have to keep in mind that gaijin is a company and introducing modern new equipment is part of their buisness model

Exactly.
They need to stop tiptoeing around depicting modern MBTs, start allowing estimates not to always be the very lowest possible and allow them not to be redlined old tanks.
“But there’s no evidence it should be better!”, well, there IS evidence, just not specific values because they are classified; there’s more evidence supporting a sensible guesstimation than there is evidence suggesting that there should be no improvement at all… (SEPv3 hull lol).

I realize this is going off topic :
At the very least, this forum should provide sources pointing to the Leopard 2A8 having the new armor and outlining it as improved on the previous generation or better
This may not benifit having a change but at least doing the research and confirming that the armor array was indeed implimented for specific reasons, (i.e. improved protection, lighter weight, etc etc)
I also think it’s important that people don’t see the final implinentation of vehicles in warthunder as reality because it’s far from it. A lot of individuals do get consumed in the debate for how certain equipment performs and it’s respective parts, like armor, mobility, firepower, etc
Anyways back on topic: It looks like the report was submitted as a suggestion and hasn’t been implimented, do you plan to nudge a manager about this?

This issue was submitted as early as three years ago, and they still haven’t fixed it after so long. There is no doubt that Gaijin’s developers don’t want leopard to perform in reality, which will threaten T-90M.

I think a lot of players, mostly from the West, miss the point. They cannot make Western weaponry superior to Russian/Soviet ones. This legend was created back in pre-WW2 era. They can’t shatter this legend, especially during ongoing war.
P.S. Was born and raised in Moscow, I’m not just making this up

Worth mentioning that its the dev server, and things are subject to change. Reminder the SM2 used to be a copypaste SM and the Leopard 2RI had glass for armour all the way up until the update dropped.
Yes, all those things you mentioned do exist, but what worries me is the long-standing deliberate neglect and malice toward certain tech trees.
Regardless, let’s hope for the best outcome, even though the chances are slim.

from what I heard (Im talking about the 2a8 not the 2a7s) the 2a8 is supposed to have an upgraded engine producing 1600hp, MUSS 2.0 as LWS (ignoring the other super advanced features of it)
and Auto-Tracking, Upgraded roof and turret armor with a completely new hull from the previous leo2s and finally the ability to isntall a roof mounted armament being either a 7.62, a 50.calliber or a 40mm grenade launcher.
Are these true?

Well, part of the issue is a few years ago they made a post that said they would allow less stringent information requirements and use some common sense.
Obviously they backtracked this as their current stance leads to a lot of people… leaking things. Just a correlation though. Doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

The MTU MB 873 Ka-501 is allready without any modifications capable of producing well more than 1500hp, with the 2a8 there were only a handfull of changes made to the engine, some countrys 2a8 specs also include a raised engine power like chile or quatar however germany did not order the extra power option so the german one still only has 1500hp while the engine is ready to be turned up to more.
I dont know for sure if the LWS that the german 2a8 is getting is the MUSS2.0 System but it will definetly get a lws most likely not this and not next year tho.
Auto tracking is something else i am not 100% sure about i know that it is a Feature but again i am not sure if germany orderd it.
It does have new roof armour a sort of further development of the headhog armour you can find on the spz puma.
The entire composite array is new and improved.
Both the hull and turret are completely new productions.
I belief the ablility to mound a RWS has been present since the 2a5 or the 2a6a3
