tbf i think its an easy slip, 122 is more common in the west while 125 is in the east

I seriously doubt a T-80U went missing the very same year it entered service, these things were not very common and went to specific units.

Well thats how things work in dark ops, belarus was and is a key russian ally and given the right amount of… resources, its quite easy to acquire one single tank…or steal a helicopter…
And I can’t find anything saying Belarus received T-80Us

Belarus has long been used as a foreign depo or restoration/staging grounds for military equipment by russia.
Ofcourse you may have differing opinions about the reason for their stationing there.

Restoration is just one of the things belarus is used for.
I’m not saying T-80s were needed to be restored that time. But they were there, no doubt.
