Wishlist for Germany (WIP)

That is why the 2A7V has been one of the best MBTs for the last 9-10 months?

Yes German players complain about the Leopard 2s, but that doesn’t mean that they are actually suffering in that aspect lmao.

the only complains we have are mostly standarized stuff for NATO like regenerative steering or fixing the armor holes that everyone has for no reason whatsoever, not even like buffs to the armor itself but fixes

Have I seen you somewhere? Have you been playing naval recently?

no i played like a month ago but that’s it

2a7v definitly is meta, only thing we complain about in the mbt apartment is comparted to sweden that we “suck”

True, but everyone sucks compared to Sweden at top tier ground, which is mainly why I have don’t like top tier Sweden.

Don’t get me wrong though, I have no problem with complaining that X nation (in this case Germany) has it worse than Sweden.

The general problem now is that unless they add demonstrators or prototypes there isn’t anything “better” than the A7V until the A8 arrives. The A7A1 basically is a A6 replacement.

Well, that isn’t quite true. The actual 2A6 replacements are the 2A8s (seriously), anyhow I digress, 2A7A1s are basically just 2A7Vs with Trophy as far as I’m concerned, so they could come next, even if just to pad out the line-up, but personally I’d rather see more 2A6 variants, like the 2A6MA3.

The point is not about real life but in the game. The A7A1 isn’t a A7V with trophy it’s a A7 with it and the A7 is an upgrade A6M or A6 with similar features as the A6M3. The whole problem is imo that there isn’t really anything that can be added that offers more than the A7V currently and just replacing older vehicles with newer ones that then are backup.

The 2A7A1s are really just 2A7Vs with Trophy. The “2A7A1” we’ve seen so far, is just the VT-ETB 2 aka the prototype.
This is what the 2A7A1 will mostly look like.

It isn’t. The notable difference are the headlights and the thin plate on the hull. The confusion is understandable though since the names have been thrown around for multiple vehicles. There is also the testbed for it that has been named A7A1 by some.

The A7A1 will be a conversation of Leopard 2 A6 A3s and there is a Leopard 2 VT-ETB for testing. Abstandsaktives Schutzsystem Trophy auf Leopard 2 A7A1 erfolgreich getestet

That render is from 2021, very old. The render I posted is from Lobitz’s book from 2022. Not adopting the 2A7V’s upgrades when the hulls are newly built anyways, would be very weird.

But they aren’t newly built, they are just upgrades. Only the A7Vs currently have new hulls the A7A1s are made from old A6s.

The esut article you linked literally states that only the turrets will be sourced from 2A6(M)A3s and then paired with new hulls.

Oh my bad skipped that but i still stand with the unarmored part. This newer article mentions it but all pictures that have published by KMW are without it but I am happily proven wrong. Der Leopard 2 bleibt noch dreißig Jahre im Deutschen Heer: Die Brücke zum MGCS

This newer article mentions it but all pictures that have published by KMW are without it but I am happily proven wrong.

This quote is from the article you have linked;

With a contract dated March 2021, 17 Leopard 2 A6s (one company equivalent plus reserve) will receive Rafael’s APS TROPHY active protection system. As part of the APS upgrade, the tanks will be upgraded to A7V status. The A7A1 can be recognized externally by the attachments with electronics and launchers on both sides of the turret as well as four attached radar devices. The inflow is agreed for the period 2024 to 2025.

On top of that, this photo was also included to visually represent how the 2A7A1s will look like:

So, in case you haven’t noticed, all the photos have been showing otherwise, are at the very least ~3 years old, whereas newer, that KMW has chosen, display the final version of the tank to have the hull add-on.

So there are now two A7A1s since the one without has been built. The testbed has a different camouflage or it is an additional version.

That’s one of the initial Trophy prototypes (VT-ETB and one other). The VT-ETB 2 is the 2A7 with Trophy basically. The final 2A7A1 should actually enter service pretty soon.

They just ordered one vehicle with it as stated by the government.

There are two prototypes that have been built for testing purposes. What you’ve been posting so far have been nothing but prototypes, and I’m talking about the production version(s) here, which, per Lobitz & ESuT will have add-on armor.
