Hate to be this type of guy, simply just correcting you a little bit. SS11 are MCLOS, not MACLOS. SACLOS stands for « semi automatic command (?) line of sight ». You saying MACLOS would mean « manually automatic » which isn’t real at all.
The 3 main types are (from oldest to most recent)
-MACLOS: manually guided - with keyboard in game (all wire guided)
-SACLOS: semi automatic my guided - with mouse in game (wire guided or beam riding)
-ACLOS : automatically guided - with lock, fire and forget in game (spikes, PARS 3s). (use optical, IR, visible light sensor) (some ACLOS can also be SACLOS controlled IRL, one exemple being the French made AKERON)
I want to add that the Marder fits the autocannon and missile in a superstructure, which, while still being ammoracable, makes it a much harder target to kill when it’s hull down, adding to its survivability (as the Marder can actually hull down, contrary to the ratel lol).
Btw, I did not even know the ratel lacked APDS. What a terrible piece of ****
Because they lack any other offensive armament, or any other way to fight back other than their missile, making them have the same effectiveness as trying to stick a square in a circle hole, because it can’t do anything.
Not to mention, it’s British, and it’s a literal school-bus. The Milan is total rubbish from what I’ve heard, and the guns not effective against any armor at the BR, like a Tiger II or Super Persh.
There’s nothing wrong with MILAN, it’s a solid missile even if it doesn’t go quite as hard as TOW or 9M113. This car definitely gets it’s BR because of the godawful autocannon
Yeah it really is a complete sack of shite, it’s designed purely for an IRL niche that just does not exist in this game. There’s the 2022 modernisation for the Ratel 20 that would fix a few issues but it’d still pale in comparison to the Marder.
Why’s it 6.7 you ask? Let me tell you.
- It’ll die if you look at it funny
- It’s as big as a bus (hints the nickname “battlebus”)
- The 20mm can only pen like up to 57mm of armor and that’s HVAP and it doesn’t do jack diddily
- It’s not stabilize
- You can’t shoot the ATM on the move
- The ATGM doesn’t even do that much damage (that I find)
- Have to park it like a car not a tank
The only thing it really has going for it is speed, an ATGM at lower BR (but it faces the pinnacle designs of heavy tanks) and thin armor doesn’t pen APHE shells too often so it has strange survivability, oh and it has lots of empty space, but that’ll most likely be fixed soon.
It honestly works more as a SPAA
So that’s why it’s 6.7 hope it helps! :)
