Why the turret basket nerf to the Leopard 2 series and Abrams tanks were absolutly brilliant

What internals sit below the turret ring?

not much really. almost everything criritcal is in the turret

unless your engine or driver is also hit, like it is on pretty much any non kill pen of abrams the only angle where neither of those will be broken with the turret drives (both horizontal and vertical) will be broken is the side, and 99% of the time a side shot to an abrams will kill unless the shooter is extremely bad

so no, you cant really fight with both turret drives and mobility stopped

I highly doubt that

im looking forward to carousel auto loaders also stopping horizontal drives because that is much more realistic and believable than turret basket doing that.

there really isnt that much attached to the turret basket bellow the neck, and the metal itself is way too thin to jam the turret

any tank can fight with a lock turret under the condition taht ur tank is not entirely disable(engine, driver, or vertical jump to 10 degree and taken out)

yes, my point is that 90+% of the time abrams is either completely disabled (drives and mobility) or killed by a pen

the only angles where a shot through the basket wont also disable mobility is from the sides where if you dont one shot an abrams you are incredibly bad

side shot side scraping usually dont kills it
but before side scraping dont take out horizontal traverse
they couldnt even bother fix abrams hydraulic location smh

yeah but if you are sidescraping and a shot hit turret basket it will 100% also hit engine, so you are stuck with no drives and no mobility

yeah but before side scrap hit engine you can fight back
now you dont because
turret**basket

Other tanks dont deserve to be hindered this way

Why don’t they “deserve” to be modelled realistically? Just because Italy, France, and Israel developed their own tanks does not mean they should be artificially buffed or other tanks artificially nerfed.

Yes, it absolutly does, just because they are underrepresented nations and because abrams and Leo are the reason top tier ground is so terrible, also dont forget that France also has 3 leopards…

The whole issue is that either every tank that has basket needs to get one, preferably all at once, or none should have it.

Its not about “deserves”.

Adding such feature and only using it to nerf certain vehicles is unfair no matter how you slice it.

The lamest argument ever.

Gaijin continually makes this mistake, and it comes back to haunt them again and again. We saw it with spall liners and their selective implementation, we saw it with more detailed vehicle models etc.

We’re about to see it again with some nations getting much better SPAA and others not. Quite why they don’t just copy-paste SPAA until all nations have a new, more effective one is beyond me.

its true every one shoots your hull or neck or under your barrel no one shoots cheeks on any toptier tank

America has no strong top tier aviation. I can’t even remember when I last got killed by a US jet or chopper. Especially since stronK russian SPAA lock the airspace down for most jets and almost all airborne weapon systems. Only russians have the special situation that they have KH-38 crazy op A2G missiles and insufficient AA systems on the other side.

Aviation at top tier is only impactful on russian side. Be it choppers or KH-38 capable jets.

I’m gonna disagree, i play america top tier sometimes and don’t even have top cas but even in the f-16a i can kill a pantsir no problem and be effective at cas.
Main issue is that americans don’t really spawn cas, either because they don’t know how to actually do cas and just get swatted by pantsir, or they never get the points for it, or they don’t even have CAS because they’re premium ground players.

This issue is exacerbated by USSR having the best cas+spaa, thus attracting more experienced player to just cas stomp in ussr, but they used to cas stomp in US too.
