how is the big horizontal drive a good addition when its not even accurate?
the accurate depiction of turret basket in real life is
crew sit, crew movement, crew protected, partially absorb shrapnel, partially absorb spall impact, minimal electronic and system related to traverse
ingame its crew sit, crew movement, crew unprotected, create more shrapnel, create more spall impact, filled with electronic and system related to traverse
I agree with your words, however, however, you now attract the wrath of Leopard fans and especially the so-called average US players with their horrible skill rates who probably go flood your post about how bad the Abrams is, is Russian Bias, but they will never admit their skill problems, in the case of the Leopard, it’s very sad. I really like playing with my 2A7, but now I’m going to have to be careful since now my tank simply won’t swallow the shot without any damage and I’ll turn around and shoot back at the enemy.

Soviets, USA, Sweden, China, and Germany, to a lesser extent France and Italy with their Leopards.
Them having autoloaders/baskets modeled doesn’t instill bias though.
Autoloader being hit means you have one shot at most left.
A basket damaged means you can still fight, as I did the other day when someone locked my turret.
Learning to fight with a locked turret was the first thing I learned in War Thunder as within my first matches in the test for ground I got my Panther turret locked while stock on Kuban, and had to run around fragging people with a dead turret rotation.

Exactly this. This is something everyone should have skill at.
Once, in my T-55, my turret got jammed and the enemies didn’t stop coming to where I was. I didn’t repair, but I hull aimed and killed them.

I can’t get over the fact that the person that wrote this, sounds like a scholar. Really sold me on this
To put my 2 cents in, The carousel of the ussr tanks should act like the turret basket of the usa tanks. If it gets shot, it should disable the turret traverse as well. At least sense the turret basket is counted as the horizontal drive.
Spoiler
But what really kills the Abrams effectiveness is mainly the modes/maps (Usually flat and urban), players (lookin at you clickbaits) , and skill floor.
With the skill floor, The Abrams has a lot of active strengths. Usually it’s turret traverse, moderate mobility, and its turret cheeks. (Basically, you need to actively use these to your advantage.) This leads to a higher skill ceiling but less room for mistakes. (which means normal players suffer more with these types of tanks)
On the flip side, ussr tanks have better armor, ERA, auto loader, and good penetration. Mostly all passive strengths. (Those that usually allow more mistakes and in turn, more freedom to play the objectives) Tho this comes at the cost of a lower skill ceiling, which makes it harder for said tanks to overcome there opposition in the event of an equal playing field.
(And the fact that gaijin cant model era good enough.)
Giving the overperforming tanks more realistic DMs (russian, german and American designs) has aided in making the left behind challengers, Leclercs and Ariete that smidge closer in battle however this wasn’t the reasoning. War thunder aims for realistic damage models first and balances second.
most the whining about the turret rings are people that supported the autoloader addidition and are being hypocrites, sorry a realism change “nerfed” your tanks
anyone who says abrams isn’t overperforming, your bad teammate dragging winrates down isn’t the vehicle being bad but the players
leo 2 spam sucks, from 10.7 up its all just leopards and then death by KH38MT, there needs to be a lot more changes and additions before top tier is worthile
Looking forward to the challengers and all tanks getting their realistic turret baskets too.

I can foreseen the future where people bug report for challenger
Challenger - All models does not have a turret basket
and
Bug report manager: All tank have turret basket, include Challenger, not a bug.
One image does not prove that the challenger does not have turret baskets. Otherwise the gunner would have a hell of a provlem any time they want to target anything not in front of the tank.
Likewise, the turret baskets on the Abrams and leos are not all related to the function of the drive
the gunner has a chair
(this is technically challenger 1 shuddup same layout)

Are you suggesting that the gunner and turret crew do not turn with the turret (i.e. the primary purpose of the turret basket)?
the loader has to move and work in confined space
or they sit on chair and rotate with turret because chair is mounted on turret
gunner and commander go along with turret itself
loader has to move or sit on his chair
of course not lmao even on the worst tank ever built (the T34) the gunner and commanders seat moved with the damn turret.
turret crew has seats bolted into the tanks turret
the loader has a little platform to stand on but there is nothing quite like on the leopard and abrams.
If you’ve ever seen a photo of a chieftain tanks inside its still very similar to that
