I for one am glad these unhistorical disgraces will no longer destroy my suspension of disbelief when playing the game.
Nothing takes me more out of the game’s historical atmosphere than when I’m trying to fire a sidewinder missile from my supersonic American F11F-1 at a one-of-a-kind rocket powered Me 262 C-2b to get him off the tail of my Russian ally flying his equally unique La 174 prototype in Spanish airspace, and then this totally unrealistic Imperial Japanese eyesore comes into view.
Or when the Soviet Union’s 1950s light tank traveled to 1943 to fight against Tigers and Panthers.
Which the German countered by using an American SPG from the 50s to fight against the USA.
They made over 800 of the Ohka & over 1100 of the Type 97 anti-tank rifle, there is no point having copy paste trees… Also Japan has now thanks to the planned removal only a 7.0 jet and a 7.7 BR rating and everything else is over 8.0 meaning you cannot even make a full roster of 3 for Arcade! It is not Xenophobia to complain that the tech tree we started grinding has been changed to something else than what we wanted! I expected at the bare minimum 1 or 2 of the planes I suggested ot have been added by now… They can either add 1 of the 3 to make sure we have 3 planes for under 7.7 or cancel the removal of the R2Y2s!
edit: also all the new modern planes seems to have bogus made up stats anyway!
Do not tempt people to time travel! It always ends badly…
It is literally Me–262/kikka but bigger not that hard to math the flight model, also many of the “real planes” have fake stats.
Flight model/airframe is proven to work, cannot possible be more unrealistic than the Yaks and modern jets they just guessed with…
Both the components needed to make it is real and was made even the planned upgrade for the Ohka which apparently was to use Kikka engines could have been done to.
Suzuka 24 has two 20mm guns?!! The converted Ohka seen in the anime Konpeki no Kantai only had one…
Nice to finally find the source of the inspired fictional craft, it would be even better! Actually they could implement both and have the latter be a upgrade for it like they did with the Kikka? 😍
Eeehhh I am unsure about replacing fictional R2Y2 with even more fictional ‘gunned Ohka’
If we really, really need to choose from one of these
Because you guys don’t want any more Western jets to replace domestic one
Then, sounds like #1 is the only plausible option
Almost paper, partially built. but better than a post-war idea or manned missile with no warhead but 20mm anti-tank rifle.
That would solve the Arcade issue of Japan not having enough 7.0 jets, OG players have no issue they have 3 total of BR 7.3 jets while new players if the Ki-201 gets added probably gets
Kikka (7.0)
Karyu (7.3?)
F-84G (7.7)
Tossing more universal backups at players feels more like a bandaid than a fix…
It is just needed to add T-33, T-1B, trained Vampire and T-1A (better engine and + missiles) and this line will close all spaces of Japanese vehicles at ~7.0-8.3.
But the issue is that for 10 years none of this planes were added and then Thai clones appeared
The T-33 was produced under license, so at least it’s ever so slightly more relevant than imported/captured aircraft.
It depends if the T-1s actually get missiles, most likely AIM-9Bs. I’d rather they not (or at least one model without them, or put the missiles on a premium, whatever), since a much lower BR (sub-7.0) could be had, similar to He 162 and Strikemaster. 3x .50cals (at most, w/ 2 gunpods) certainly isn’t amazing but it’d be balanced out by being a jet facing mostly props.
If they get missiles there is no way that they’re gonna be 7.0 or lower.
The Vampire trainer had either 2 or 4 20mm cannons, depends on if the second seat is actually occupied IIRC.
