Why the Removal of the R2Y2’s from War Thunder is a Mistake

R2Y2s are in the light bomber/attacker tree.

“Better” versus an actual healthy unique vehicle.

Because the P1 actually does the task that the R2Y2s were intended for. The R2Y2s are intended to be bombers. Not fighters. (Many indications, but mainly, the fact its in the light bomber tree and that its camos are only unlockable through Base Bombing damage and not Enemy Kills).

Interestingly, they are soon changing that camouflage unlock requirement for R2Y2 from base bombing to player-only kills (not that it changes the fact that the R2Y2s are still classified jet bombers).

(from gszabi99’s Reddit datamine leak)

The P-1 will still definitely be a unique and cool aircraft, even if it is limited to anti-ship weapons only.

By a whole 70kgf. The curve is as flat as you could ever see. And your max thrust is actually static thrust. Of course staying fast is superior to being slow but it has nothing to do with thrust in this case.

It isn’t limited. It has AGM-65s, bombs, mines, and torpedoes.

I for one am glad these unhistorical disgraces will no longer destroy my suspension of disbelief when playing the game.

Nothing takes me more out of the game’s historical atmosphere than when I’m trying to fire a sidewinder missile from my supersonic American F11F-1 at a one-of-a-kind rocket powered Me 262 C-2b to get him off the tail of my Russian ally flying his equally unique La 174 prototype in Spanish airspace, and then this totally unrealistic Imperial Japanese eyesore comes into view.

And who could ever forget about swedish post war wagons travelling back in time to fight T-34s and Shermans?

Or when the Soviet Union’s 1950s light tank traveled to 1943 to fight against Tigers and Panthers.
Which the German countered by using an American SPG from the 50s to fight against the USA.

Japan is for Japan, no more western aircraft!

  1. Nakajima Ki-201 Karyu (just Me-262 but 8% bigger)
  2. Kyushu J7W2 Shinden Kai (prototype with prop engine flew)
  3. Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka (with Type 97 20mm anti tank rifle - fictional anti-bomber modification)

ANY OF THESE ARE BETTER!!!

None of those would be ~8.0 in BR, and stop it with the xenophobia.
Oh and none of them are real aircraft.

BTW Xenophobia isn’t when stating Japan should have more Japanese planes.

They made over 800 of the Ohka & over 1100 of the Type 97 anti-tank rifle, there is no point having copy paste trees… Also Japan has now thanks to the planned removal only a 7.0 jet and a 7.7 BR rating and everything else is over 8.0 meaning you cannot even make a full roster of 3 for Arcade! It is not Xenophobia to complain that the tech tree we started grinding has been changed to something else than what we wanted! I expected at the bare minimum 1 or 2 of the planes I suggested ot have been added by now… They can either add 1 of the 3 to make sure we have 3 planes for under 7.7 or cancel the removal of the R2Y2s!

edit: also all the new modern planes seems to have bogus made up stats anyway!

Xenophobia isn’t when stating japan should have japanese planes.

This crap again he has no idea what xenophobia is… He called me racist earlier in the post then once I called him out he switched it to xenophobia.

Should’ve won the war then.

Never Built

Already got the prototype. That’s as far as it gets.

FICTIONAL

  1. Do not tempt people to time travel! It always ends badly…
  2. It is literally Me–262/kikka but bigger not that hard to math the flight model, also many of the “real planes” have fake stats.
  3. Flight model/airframe is proven to work, cannot possible be more unrealistic than the Yaks and modern jets they just guessed with…
  4. Both the components needed to make it is real and was made even the planned upgrade for the Ohka which apparently was to use Kikka engines could have been done to.

🤣🤣🤣
👍

Engines were built, which is more than certain other vehicles in the game, and enough for a suggestion.

It might still be controversial, chances are it’s never added, but it’s not impossible.

J7W1 was not a jet prototype, it was the intended aircraft “J7W2” was a post-war idea of a theoretical jet conversion.

Debatable, since there is some evidence of a “Suzuka 24” as per US intel. But it’s vague and not enough to really prove it or model it in game.

Suzuka 24 has two 20mm guns?!! The converted Ohka seen in the anime Konpeki no Kantai only had one…

Nice to finally find the source of the inspired fictional craft, it would be even better! Actually they could implement both and have the latter be a upgrade for it like they did with the Kikka? 😍

*Partially built and has enough to be added as per gaijin’s requirements
