Why the Removal of the R2Y2’s from War Thunder is a Mistake

So we have got those saying they wanted a domestic replacement instead of thai sub but you are saying that there was no replacement???

The true reason is that people complained.

“R2Y2 aren’t real, remove them” was fairly common to hear. Now they added the bare minimum of a subtree, they can finally have an excuse to deal with a complaint that won’t dig into their wallets, and if anything encourage people to research a new nation, which often comes with spending some money too.

Now I wouldn’t go so far as to say they timed it with the sale, but I doubt they’d be unaware. They absolutely knew what they were doing, even if realistically it’s more of a “happy coincidence” to them.

not exactly the same as an aircraft that got jet engines when it was a prop

Not even a point I was trying to make.

If the planes were “unhistorical”, why even add them in the first place? And now that they have been added, and left on the tech tree for years, when removing them why let players keep them at all since being “unhistorical” is such a major issue.

They have not to my knowledge announced any replacement for these planes before or after their removal.

If they are releasing a Thai sub tree, those arent Japanese planes and will most likely be copy paste planes from another nation. Which then begs the question that has been brung up here multiple times of why even bother playing Japan if there is nothing unique.

People complain constantly, Gaijin doesnt listen to 99% of it especially if it is a legitimate complaint with sources to back it up.
So why are they caring now all of a sudden?

Also they are removing them from research not from people’s accounts … so it just makes them rarer so its still ahistorical…

Not quite, they used to be 7.0 with a bomber or attacker airspawn. They were then moved to 7.3 without it. Then up to 7.7 and finally 8.0.

It’s an easy choice for them. Usually complaints require a lot of work and/or cuts to their perceived profit. This one requires nearly no work and creates a last rush towards soon-to-be-rare vehicles in an otherwise not much played tree, which means people buying premiums.

Thats why im saying they lined it up with Foundation Day so you are forced to buy japanese prems just to get these soon to be rare vehicles.

You are reading into this too much the Panther 2 wasn’t that popular of a removal. Not is the removal of the R2Y2 profitable ( I suppose if it was made premium or some other way it would be)

Functioning prototypes that existed and as long as they are implemented in the same functional configuration are fair game. Their addition is a different conversation.
The R2Y2 is not this.

As for your second point you can check the F-16AJ dev blog or the countless responses by Smin to this. It probably will face the same fate as the R2Y2 soon.

The Thai sub trees f84 is the stated replacement. Yes it’s not domestic.

They already released the Thai Sub tree that is the whole reason Gaijin said they can now remove the R2Y2.

Since R2Y2 is being removed due to realism, I can’t wait for them to improve the realism. German and Japanese planes will be grounded due to lack of fuel and pilots. German gearboxes will fall apart, British tanks will have to take a tea break. Soviet aircraft from throughout World War II will have logistical problems, for example there will be no bullets, spare parts or fuel. Japanese planes will have a huge problem with electronics. And many other realistic things.

8.0 makes it not worth to play, that’s why people always ignore R2Y2 until Gaijin wants to delete them, if it can back to 7.7-7.3, we will see how many players realized how important this plane is

Next update: Zero pilots unable to hear or send messages in chat due to poor radios, caused by insufficient engine ignition shielding

Ki-61 from the beginning until the creation of Ki-100 had huge problems with engines. In the game it could look like you won’t start because the engine doesn’t work or the engine turns off while in the air

Keep defending Gaijin and provoking critics.
R2Y2s should’ve never been added to begin with, and delisting them instead of outright removing them is a pro-player stance.
I’ve been demanding they add F-84G, Kawasaki P-1, etc and remove the R2Y2s for over a year at this point; I criticized Gaijin, and now they’ve answered the critique, they listened.

Gaijin has replaced the R2Y2s with an F-84G, so stop having posts of lies.

They told us the real reason: The R2Y2s are fake and are to be delisted. They’ve said this countless times.

You know this is besides the point and realism is combined with “arcardeish” elements for enjoyment instead of being an actual full blown simulator.
