Why play Achilles when the M10 is at the same BR?

Time that could be spent killing more enemies too…

The Achilles is open topped and has a roomier turret than the Sherman Firefly, so the reload rate should actually be faster (If you go by IRL logic)

Currently Firefly has 5.9s reload speed, and the Achilles 6.7s

In all honesty APHE should just be nerfed.
I agree with you, that extra penetration doesn’t really make up for the worse reload.

A 5.5 / 6.0s reload for the Achilles and an APHE nerf would make them a lot more equal, but I think an APHE rework for all calibers is going to take a lot of time to correctly rework the BRs of most vehicles at lower tiers. Some vehicles won’t really be impacted by the change by much (such as the M10 at 3.3), but some others will be affected by quite a bit (such as the Jumbo). Common weakspots for certain vehicles will no longer be that effective, so they may have to be moved up in BR too.
I think <40mm caliber guns should have the rework already implemented, though, as to reduce the effectiveness of easily spammable SPAA APHE. That and their inability to penetrate armour once ricocheting (to prevent annoying and unreasonable trap shots).

For now, I really just want a better reload for the Achilles or maybe just move the M10 to 3.7.

Yes, that might take some time but I think it’s for the best. This game boasts about it’s realism, so having such a fictional mechanic makes no sense.

Agreed.
AAs hunting cupolas with their nuke APHE is incredibly toxic and unrealistic gameplay.

I think that would be fine.

Been awhile now but I remember Achillies optics being terrible and solid shot has no spalling.
The M10 has APHE.

Achilles’ is more zoomed in (3.0x - 6.0x) while M10’s is less zoomed in (1.9x - 3.5x).
Achilles’ optics would be better for further ranges, but M10’s is better for closer ranges.
