Why not just make the live server the test server?

Like that, gaijin could really test it all. Yes, it would be annoying for a few weaks, if something is really broken, but in compensation, you get easy grind for a few weeks.

I think nobody would complain about playing the new stuff for awhile and gaijin could also get data from people playing the old stuff, to check if something old is broke.

Also, like the whole “crashing your game by shooting a missel” Bug on the Premium Hornet and a few other planes showed, the current dev server is inefficient and the whole game is one unending development build, anyway.

Youve found the two reasons why this doesnt happen

That’s the 1st problem

That’s the 2nd and main problem. No company on their most sane mind would hand you compensations if its up to them to avoid it.

refer to the previous point i made. That time, they just had no choice. With a dev server, they can get free labor to test what they’ve been developing and they don’t need to compensate you for anything, as its a different environment from the live server.

p.s. Getting the vehicles to test them on the live server without X5 to send feedback would REALLY be a pain in the *ss.

Dude its a dev server for this reason so it can be tested on a larger scale without affecting the main game , x5 for live server will never happen not even for 30min its crazy

With how unfinished msot things are when they come to the live server, its basically a beta test anyway, What the dev server is, is just an Alpha test of really unfinished things

saw you a few times in naval , did you get crashes when the battle ends since the last fix too ?

Yea, i had to switch back from DX12 to DX11. Still horrible unstable, even for a “Beta”.

Well, that’s simply not how it works when it comes to software/application development cycles. In my ~20 years of working with application development organizations, I can say that most developers use multiple environments for any deployment cycle. The Test/Development environment (DEV/TEST) is generally where all the hard work is done (configs, coding updates, etc.). Then everything is deployed to the Implementation environment (IMPL) where User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is generally done - and at this point everything should be basically completed, save for a few minor tweaks as needed. And then when the stakeholders sign off, the updates are deployed to the Production environment (PROD). PROD is the live sever - what the end user accesses, etc. That’s a pretty simplified summary of the application development cycles that I’ve experienced, but that’s generally how it works. I could not for the life of me imagine having anything in PROD that’s still not completed the DEV/TEST work. That would be completely nuts.

Wouldn’t be a test server if it was the live server. The whole point is to isolate the testing environment from the live build.

Well, first all this isn´t done with public acces servers. Second, there are no stackholders, gaijin is a private company. Third, public tests for updates this close to release are general done to stresstest, as the content is practicly done already, just some polishing needed.

And for a Stresstest, gaijin isn´t attracting enough players.

Like, right now, i would love to play the Yamato on the testserver. But if i go now play on the testserver, i gona spent the next month grinding japaness bluewater, just so i can play the yamato on the liveserver, after the updated dropped.

Combine that with teh hassel to get on the testserver, downloading a whole different build of teh game and there is no reason for me leave the liveserver.

So, something needs to happen, cause with the current low playercount, the testserver is innefficient (as we could feel countless times by now).

Gaijin should add the test as events. Like the recent test of the SAM sites, the first tests of the FOX-3 Missels and the test of the Sever Damage mechanic.

Or atleast keep the accounts synced on the testserver and live server. I´m not going to unlock the Yamato twice, the grind is already bad enough.

Like, seriously, to gaijin. If you want people to test your stuff, you need to reward them for it and not a small reward. Letting them keep the 5X progress would be a serious reason to switch over to the Test Server.

If something is broken and the “masses” get to play it it would go way beyond “annoying”…as this forum proves over and over…even with testing…

Devs would have to be suicidal (or have a weird sense of humor) to do testing on the main servers…

Erm… I wrote “stakeholders,” not “stockholders” or “shareholders.” And I guarantee there are many stakeholders at Gaijin.

But thanks for confirming that you clearly have no understanding in the slightest about how software or application development cycles work, the scope of such activities, or the complexity of everything involved. But you do certainly have a grand sense of entitlement - you want Gaijin to completely overhaul their development planning simply because you want to play the Yamato and you don’t want to wait for it to be available on the live server. Ugh.

lol

I meant Stakeholders. But the fact that you started with “You have no idea you dumdum” shows me what kind of person you are. So ignored do to atitute.

No, you thought that stakeholders (which you called stackholders) were the same as stockholders (a.k.a. shareholders). You wrote that Gaijin is a private company, implying that they do not have any shareholders (stockholders) to appease. You conflated stakeholders (my word) and stockholders/shareholders. That’s on you, homie.

And I didn’t call you dumb, but you clearly and demonstrably do not understand the software/application development process. Or, perhaps you do understand it, but your sense of entitlement is obfuscating that understanding because you’re focused upon the me-me-me-me vibe.

And I totally dig the “Oof! He disagrees with my argument, therefore I must ignore him!” take. That’s mature… your argument is defenseless, so any reasonable or rational rebuttable is met with an ignore. It’s like a child taking their ball and going home. But that’s your prerogative.

Cheers!

To long, didn´t read.

Well, you had me on ignore anyhow, right? Hahaha

only time that is good is when it’s a separate event, like the SEAD test and the FOX-3 testing, so it doesn’t ruin the main part of the game

General experimentation on the MAIN game servers would be horrible for all parties involved, especially with gamebreaking bugs that can arise causing something to quickly become OP, like when Sabot Petals being added and Autocannon APDS acting like a full auto shotgun towards aircraft, or the current multi-vehicle stuff and being able to drive your multi-vehicle AA outside of the map borders and onto the enemy Airfield or other location (is actually nice to place Launchers somewhat outside the map borders, to protect from ground vehicles, but not literally onto the enemy airfield/Helipad)

Honestly, this would be fun. It would shack up the monotones WT gameplay in unexpecting ways for around a week.

I remember when the ammo replenishment calculation was bugged and all the autoloaders where refilled alot quicker. The best time i ever had with french tanks.

Not all changes to the game are fun…beware what you wish for…
