sartt have you tried to google for sources that isnt a videogame?
Well it could also be the AN/VLQ-12 (V) “CREW-Duke” System, counts at least as a soft-kill, APS.
In addition to the prior AN/VLQ-6 & -8 / -8A.
Also LWS systems tend to be AN/(A/V)VR-XX, like the VVR-1 mounted to the Bradley and others.
Like the Abrams. (probably introduced with either the SEP, or -v2 configurations)
ISR Systems’ AN/VVR-1 laser warning system has been tested and incorporated on vehicles such as M-1 Abrams tank and the M-2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle. This was improved with the subsequent AN/VVR-2 version that incorporated a single, mast-mounted sensor, and again with AN/VVR-3 which added a beam-rider detection capability.
Hmm that is interesting.
I found a mention of the AN/VVR-1 plan for implement after testing in FY99 was dependent on funding though.
Haven’t seen anything related to the Abrams receiving it though. Maybe it didn’t?
Video I found on LWS for the Bradly and Abrams probably a v2 but it also mentions it's integration with smoke deployment system.
The detectors in the video ( at; 1:16 ) are the AN/VVR-4 and likely also has 3D (directional) audio warnings.
Also automated deployment systems were investigated in the '90’s and are touched on in the following report;
https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA339744.pdf#page=22
Also the mentioned symposium from '99 can be found;
well he posted a video of COD mw 2 with a hard kill APS system, not to mention how doft kill systems are relatively useless in war thunder at high tier and wouldnt help much
So i wouldnt believe the excuse if that guy said he meaned soft kill systems
the guy isn’t entirely wrong. the SEPv2 was used to test the iron curtain trophy system to see if it was viable for the SEPv3 before the v3 went into production. obviously it was proven to be viable as it’s installed from factory on the v3. due to the testing and eventual integration, all SEPv2 tanks are being upgraded with the iron curtain overtime.
as for the stryker and bradley. the stryker platform can use (and some do) the iron fist trophy system (the same one found on the black night already in game). it also can be found on the M2 bradley, not the M3 from what i could find, but i’d imagine the M3 is just as capable of using it.
so, end of the day, the SEPv2 at the very least should get its trophy system as an unlockable modification in game, especially since i think we all know the SEPv3 isn’t being added anytime soon. it would at least make the tank kinda worth playing.
nobody is fighting the bradley or abrams part
but he is spotting nonsense mostly either wqay
please go ahead and provide sources
https://thedefensepost.com/2023/12/19/active-protection-system-stryker
yeah nah aint how its done in war thunder bad luck better luck next time, its not an in service uprade, meaning it would come as event / premium more likely in that case
u gotta wait until later variants just get added
you act as though gaijin hasn’t added modifications to vehicles years later. and considering the upgrades started back in, iirc, 2020, i’d say it is very much in service.
so your source for the stryker being unable to use it is “they didn’t like the weight of the system, but the platform can absolutely use it”?
also, there’s currently at least 2 strykers with iron curtain equipped and working. one at aberdeen proving ground in maryland and the other at redstone arsenal in alabama. so, i was slightly wrong, it’s not the iron fist, but the iron curtain.
they dont realy do that with the newest stuff anymore
and yet again your arent providing any sources, could you provide pictures, articles anything? just you saying oh yeah they are their doesnt mean anything
nothing to be said about the guys claim that the crew fans are supposed to be the inserts for the APS
Even then Iron Curtain is out as possible active protection system for Stryker
seems like it never was put ojn the ingame stryker like the guy claimed
your own source says it was put on, tested and successful, but they just didn’t like it so they didn’t put it on more strykers… keyword “more”
Not true both the SEP V2-3 had it via the trophy system.
I mean a SEPv2 with trophy was sent to europe to partake in a nato training iirc.
Oh so you mean like the Leopard 2 PSO? or Leopard 2K? T-80B with thermals? MBT/Kpz? But I swear I saw those vehicles in the TT last time I opened the game?
It was
The reason the Stryker is having issues with getting an APS is cause the army is lookimg for an APS they don’t need to mature for it to work to expectation. They want one they can slap on and it be great. Obviously it has shown issues with this approach.
dotSHINI’s point about Stryker is that MGS has been withdrawn from service without ever having been fitted with an APS. The vehicles evaluated with StrikeShield, Iron Curtain, Trophy etc. in the US and Israel were all ICVs. The MGS has been retired since 2022 so will not see a service APS installation.
How APS is fitted to Stryker in future is only a concern for War Thunder if other variants come along
It’s likely that it may also see future addition to select AMPV variants, or Bradley(s) as well, as a growth option. Since many systems, and the underlying architecture are similar between it and the M1 & M10 Booker.
Yeh but they are purposely made weaker compared to the IRL versions.
all nice but neither the XM30 you demanded earlier or the new bradley realy exist yet so they cant be added
No they didn’t.
Unintentional =/= purposeful.
