Why isnt France getting an SPAA to fill two HUGE gaps?

So this update France is getting a “copy paste” Dutch Gepard. It will likely sit around BR 8.7 maybe even folded with the AMX-30 DCA.
But why are we not getting an SPAA to fill the HUGE gap from BR 6.3 to 8.7 or the HUGE gap from BR 9.7 to 12.0.

Is the answer really that Gaijin cant find anything they can just copy paste into the gap? The only French thing we got this year has been the EBRC Jagaur, everything else is just copy paste from USA or Gemrnay…

It’s still unique.

It’s not even a copy paste gepard like u said. Fully unique SPAAG system.

My god, it was only one of the three vehicles confirmed for the update, and French players are already acting like it’s going to be the only addition to the French tech tree for the next six months and the worst thing ever. We don’t even know what else/if France is getting yet.

Cheetah PRTL is a good addition regardless if it’s a Gepard at the end of the day is contributing for the tech tree in comparison to previous implementations. It’s not unrealistic to think that; France had eight ground vehicles from March 2025 to September 2026. With five of these “unique” vehicles being the…

  • AMD.35 (PaK) (which is shared with the german tech tree as P204(f) KwK 39/1);
  • FSAF SAMP/T (Mamba) (which is shared with the italian tech tree as FSAF SAMP/T;
  • DF105 (which is shared with the german tech tree as DF105);
  • CLOVIS (which is shared with the german tech tree as CLOVIS in a pack);
  • EMBT (which is shared with the german tech tree as EMBT).

Actual french-unique vehicles I can note is the EBCR Jaguar and the Leclerc MSC if I’m not missing anything in terms of ground vehicles. On this same period of time France got a total of also seven not unique and shared vehicles with other tech tree. I’m not here to complain about the Cheetah PRTL, AMX-30S DCA is simply not there to work as a SPAA but rather SPAT if you know what I mean, maybe the VAB VCS/TA20 or the AMX-10 RAA could’ve been good options to replace the previous SPAA in the task it’s not fulfilling anymore because of the extremely low muzzle velocity on the 30 mm Hispano-Suiza 831A.

Have you not seen how the last couple years have been with french additions? We can be lucky if they even bother adding copy paste to the tree. The main issue with the cheetah personally is that it is not really needed as it will sit at such a BR where it will do nothing to help close the huge SPAA gaps in the tree. Just like other benelux additions with the lie of expanding small lineups that end up not doing that because they only add stuff at BRs that already have enough vehicles for a lineup

I mean. the cheetah is a way to fix the disparity france has against germany, sweden, USA and britain by adding a gepard clone.

Its not needed as the BR gap is already filled but it fixes a technology gap at that BR.

I dont think it should have been added, not with the state of the game in relation fo 35mm KDA spaa systems but i get it, its an easy one to add and such vehicles are popular (because they are a toxic OP meta vehicle)

I do agree that gaijin should focus on filling BR gaps of SPAA first. Britain doesnt get a SPAA from 5.3 until 8.3 (and the gap between a usable one is 3.0-8.3) and then from 8.7-10.0 and the same goes for france and a couple others to lesser degrees.

One option is the dca prototype

Israel: setting quite

It’s going to be 8.3 unless it has some advantage over the Gepard.

It’s weird that I’m seeing French mains angry about getting a new SPAA.

You make a good point.
Sounds like Russia needs another top tier SAM to surpass the SM SV.

It’s not really weird though is it? It is basically a gepard that is being added that does nothing to fill the huge gaps that exist. It makes sense to be mad/disappointed when it is clear gaijin is not listening to what the tree needs ( an SPAA between 5.7 and 8.7) and just adds stuff that seemingly does not really help.
Sure the 8.3 lineup now has an SPAA. so What? that’s like 3 vehicles now.

It’s still a vehicle that is filling the gap. There is an entire thread with anger on the warthunder subreddit about it.

At least they got a vehicle being announced in the thread.

Not really. It’s gonna be 8.3 or 8.7 so it pretty much does nothing. The 8.0 and 7.7 (the biggest) lineups still have no viable SPAA

Yeah that’d still be 8.7

A quite good option for 7.7 though would be the AMX VCI TA20 which was passed a while ago

Still a gap filler.

Germany doesn’t have anything between 6.7 8.3(no, the Wiesel and lurch don’t count) the. 8.3 to 9.7 then 10.3 to 11.7(which it isn’t great currently)

So yeah, you guys got something to fill the gap
