What an insane topic. There is no reason why 5.3 tanks should face tortoise
That thing is so bad though, it actually has worse armor than Ferdinand, slower reload and worse ammunition, not to mention slower forward and reverse speed. It cannot go down perhaps they can work on the reload a little, it’s 8.6 seconds in an interior the size of Olympic swimming pool, it has two piece ammo so it’s understandable.
I do not think you understand how non-mobile Ferdi is compared to Tortoise.
They’re also the same BR with a slight difference in reload, and Tortoise firing a higher kinetic round, and similar armor.
I think the only 6.7 TD more mobile than Tortoise and Jagdtiger that still has some armor is Su-122-54.
Ferdi is overall slower than Tortoise? This is simply not possible. Let me run the game to do some tests to verify it.
The way the Porsche powertrain works for the Ferdi is rather bad.
From straight line acceleration [this one might be on-par with Tortoise] to traverse which is certainly worse.
The lack of mobility is why I stopped playing my Ferdinand after spading it.
Why would I play it when the Tiger 2 is 6.7? Far more mobile with a turret no less.
Of course I don’t think Ferdi should be back to 6.3, it’s fine at 6.7; it’s just the most difficult to manage casemate I’ve used and I still did well with it.
Maybe I still harbour terrible feelings from when I first played Ground. The only thing I learned was Russian bias did not exist (Russians sat close together and we’re easily eliminated) however German bias did.
The Ferdi has a turret that doesn’t get popped by lots of things it sees in its respective br lol it’s more survivable given many scenarios like when I really need to rush the cap and not die by everything flying at the direction of my turret.
Ferdi based on my experience (wait, I don’t have Ferdi, I have the Elefant), is almost 100% better than the Tortoise, that thing sucks so hard that I refused to play 6.7. While the Tortoise has good reverse speed, it simply cannot turn during reverse unlike Ferdi.
I’ll just stick with South Africa. At least there I have this wonderful thing called “mobility” which the rest of Britain has none of.
My list of the best vehicles of British tech tree:
Chieftain Mk10
Rooikats
Fox
Falcon
Olifant Mk1
Olifant Mk2
FV4030
They are just
I’ll give you that. Just sucks that the Falcon doesn’t get a radar at 8.3
that was fixed a while back. it has its correct sight magnification now
Spouting off a bunch of top teir tanks doesn’t represent any talking point, so you have to actually use your words. BVM was OP when it had double internal plates around its ammo carousel. It took them a long time to fix that… ‘bug’. The problem wasn’t necessarily the BVM, it was that russia had 2x the top teir tanks of any other nation, meaning their win rates were much higher (and the BVM correspondingly). They have been filling in every other tree’s top teir with whatever they can find which is why russia’s win rate has been dropping. Also they have changed the postpen on ALL apfsds rounds to be significantly higher in the past 2 years making the compartmental survivability of NATO tanks significantly stronger.
4 years ago centurion mk3 was 6.7. Stabs were added in 2020, so 5 years ago. Volumetric came at the end of 2020 (raining fire update) and by mid 2021 the centurion mk3 was 7.3. Your timeline is off.
shell shatter chance begins at 0 degrees, meaning literally ANY angle, even 5 degrees or less, has a chance to shatter. You will never hit at exactly 0 degrees, meaning there is always a random chance to shatter, and the shatter chance growth is not linear (i don’t think anyone knows what it is).
All rounds*.
And I will tell you the only times my shells shattered were on extreme angles and spaced armor.
The Falcon is a scourge
Its reputation might have gone down a little after the introduction of xm246 lol only weakness is the size, its pretty much better everywhere else, rate of fire, sight zoom and having a radar.
Pretty sure that there isn’t any RNG involved. At specific conditions the shell will have it’s penetration reduced (sloped or spaced armor). If it is then stopped by armor, you get the “Shell Shattered” message.
Shells used to shatter on Ferdinands layered 100mm plates, because the first plate reduced the penetration of the shell so that it wouldn’t penetrate the second plate anymore.
Not sure, if it was just a hot fix for the Ferdinand or if the devs made some general changes that this wouldn’t happen anymore.
Hmm seems like it did, now left the FV4202 and Carnarvon having the most dogshit zoom level.
Hitting a solid AP shell would just create spall. But HESH would potentially block some spall.
Unfortunately the community decided to not even have the test of more accurately modelled shell fragmentation patterns. Which would have brought APHE inline with solid shot, and made the game more realistic in the process, while also buffing the weakpoints of many a tank. like the Tortoise.
So we cant entirely blame Gaijin on this one now.
Gaijin still has final say. Too bad Gaijin decides to favour American, German, and Russian mains over making a GOOD GAME.
