the p-51h outperforms the spitfire 24 in most aspects, but is a lower br
British pilots vs american ones most likley. they are relatively evenly matched other than that
Nah the P-51H stomps the Spitfire mk24. In a full commit dogfight with no extending allowed its true the Mk24 can win but in any other scenario the P-51H can always reset and generate an energy advantage eventually because it outclimbs, is much faster at almost all altitudes and isnβt limited by engine heat. Nowadays the infinite water injection bug makes the matchup even more one sided by removing one of the Spitfires possible win conditions.
ill be honest i have never lost to a p51-H unless its been from a 3rd party kill. the mk24 can chase it down and outturn it from my own personal experience but the mustang has better armament (im not joking, .50 cal API-T belts are just as effective as 20mm hitsparko)
Possibly. but if a fight comes down to who can WEP the longest it was a lost cause of a fight to begin with
In a correctly managed scenario the Mk24 never ever catches up to the P-51H because it is slower by 50-80kph depending on radiator setting. This also brings up the dilemma with the Spitfire. Do you open radiators to not instantly redline your engine within a minute but lose a significant chunk of top speed, or do you close them all the way to still be slower but cook your engine.
The only way a Mk24 can catch and attack the P-51H is from a significant energy advantage or a large discrepancy in pilot skill (very easy to do vs US air).
