No. It used to be 7.0 which meant it was down-tiered to 6.7 damn near every game because of how saturated 6.7 is. It was moved up to 7.7 for a reason and it is perfectly fine there.

Maybe it’s karma for the months it was allowed to feast on said BR, when it took a Data mine to Prove Gaijin botched it and gave it 300 mm of turret armour, making it impervious to all know rounds at that time.
It dominates in down tiers and it’s almost free food when up tiered, such is the life of late/post war heavies.

The IS tanks are all similar to the 75mm Jumbo in that their firepower is pretty poor and the only thing they have is armor, so they suffer hard in uptiers. The IS-6 for example fights tanks with stabilizers, APFSDS, laser rangefinders, and ERA.
You might say that the 122mm has good pen, but most guns around its BR perform similarly with 1/2 or even 1/3rd reloads. Even at 6.7 with the IS-2 but especially at 7.7-8.7.
There are literally 2 maybe 3 tanks that have ERA that the IS-6 can see. Even if every tank had it, ERA means nothing, the IS-6 doesn’t even shoot HEAT rounds.
Sure APFSDS has more pen, but the rounds the IS-6 shoots have enough penetration to pen almost everything it sees even without shooting a weak spot. APFSDS is just overkill at that rating.
Unless you are trying to snipe with the IS-6 (god please don’t tell me you are trying to snipe with this thing) a laser rangefinder is negligible.
This is the only thing that you can really argue, but just stop W keying into the enemies and you won’t need a stabilizer.
Its gun has enough pen and the APHE round is big enough to overpressure some tanks at this rating. It’s fine at 7.7, if you are struggling with it, that is a you issue.
It’s a highly mobile light tank with armor that reliably stops all AP shells at its BR…
But its also more mobile and has better all around armor than its competitors.

Lol people are still underestimating the 122mm. It has crazy good angled pen on the BR-471B and can overpressure meaning 1 shots are guaranteed as long as you penetrate the crew compartment. No the German 88 or the American 90mm don’t have similar performance except for flat pen but thats really it.

I’ve played a lot of 7.7 including Russia. The US is definitely one of, if not, the worst, but Russia is pretty good. They have the IS-4M, T-54, and such. Those vehicles are really good at their job when used properly. The tradeoff between the IS-4M and the IS-6 is that the IS-6 trades some armor for greater mobility.
