Why is the F-4G named as such and not EF-4E like it's predecessors?

in the title, the earlier wild wiesels are named EF-4C and EF-4D but i can’t find any information pertaining towards it now being in the fighter sequence and not an electronic warfare version? as i recall they all had the same role.

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

iirc, the EF-4 designation was never an official thing, also wasn’t the converted F-4E called F-4D Wild Wiesel V?

I think there were two F-4 Wild Weasels
Either C or D and F-4G

C and G i think, even so the EF-4C seems to be unoffical

There were some F-4D Wild Weasel IV-B and 2 testbed 4D WW V that was fitted with the F-4G rhaw and the F-4E were converted to F-4G so oops there.
