I genuinely don’t understand why the BMP‑2MD is still sitting at 8.7, the exact same BR as the standard BMP‑2, when it’s objectively worse in Any situation.
The biggest issue is that the BMP-2MD completely loses the ATGM launcher that the regular BMP-2 has. The normal BMP-2 can fire 9M113 Konkurs ATGMs, giving it a reliable way to kill MBTs at range and deal with heavily armored targets.
The BMP-2MD, meanwhile, is stuck relying only on the 30 mm 2A42 autocannon, Not even any APFSDS-?.
At 8.7, you’re constantly fighting things like composite-armored MBTs where a 30 mm autocannon just isn’t enough unless you flank perfectly.
And i hope you have some GE because grinding through the normal AP rounds will drive you insane.

Tbh thermal + ess combo helped me much more than atgm which drops down a lot and hits ground.
Got nuke with stock belt once. Not as bad as stock belt 2a72 on bmp 3 or bmd 4m2 which not only have lower firerate but also sit at higher br.
BMP-2MD being at battle rating 8.7 is completely fair, even though it doesn’t have anti-tank guided missiles is missing some assets such like the thermal cape that it should’ve been the main point of the vehicle. It may be added once thermal capes are properly implemented.
Furthermore it should also have improved protection and maybe improved gun handling but I’m not sure. BMP-2MD may have its battle rating decreased (for whatever crazy reason) but I highly doubt it. I would support decompression instead. Except in cases of full-uptier, BMP-2MD is not constantly fighting composite armored vehicles.
BMP-2MD is unclear to have any APDS-FS belts available even in real life, I haven’t readed any document of issuing APDS-FS belts for older/placeholder vehicles in finnish service like the BMP-2MD, in my opinion is pointless: the army is not in war and the vehicle is also old when Finland have access to much superior machinery.

Thermals putting vehicles higher in BR is such a massive cope can’t lie.
Thermals are not the big of a deal to warrant it being the same BR as a peer with a guided anti tank missile.
I generally think all bmps are undertiered. This one is a little over

75% of your battles will be uptier based on the 4-of-16 rule for top-dog.
~ 25% should be FULL uptier, but somehow it tends to be MUCH more than that.
