Yeah but as the information from official sources is (not wikipedia) the Vikhr range from helicopters is 8km and it should be 8km. 1st to be actually that source material is. 2nd to balance ,
I dont care about other features of this missle I dont have problem dodging it but when you play on uptier and your powerful NATO AA has only 8km range max they can hit you from 10km . Yes you still can dodge them by using buildings etc. but source says 8km from chopper so it should be 8km ;d
Other problem is that current in game AA are not balanced aswell. Russians has Tunguska M1 version that has 10km range missle yet NATO’s AA has maximum of Roland 3 (whitch should have 8,5km instead of flat 8km) missle then they have upgrade to VT1. There should be something between and this thing is Roland 5.
" This was a joint project between the then Matra and Aerospatiale of France and MBB of Germany begun in 1987 for a missile with increased speed and range. RM5 was designed to achieve speeds of 1,600 m/s (Mach 5.0) with the range increased to 10 km. The RM5 warhead had an 11 kg warhead with dual detonation modes, able to produce either large, high energy fragments for use against armoured targets, or larger numbers of smaller fragments for use against small targets."
I know I know it is prototype but in 2024 in War Thunder there is a lot of prototype vehicles so why bother an upgrade to NATOS AA on 10.0/10.3 BR whitch they can aquire on tier 4 of modifications
10km is the fixed wing range yes and unless you have alot of height, speed or both the vikhr will start falling out of the sky at 8.5km the range on statcard reflects the missiles self termination range and that was my experience before the agm changes idk what its like now. Same way AA missiles talk about max range and lock range despite those only being applicable to 13km high etc.
AA platforms and missiles is a bit off topic for here but there is a development of the VT-1 which has a 15km range which would be more than enough for the crotale NG users (France and Finland), Germany italy and russia can get an OSA either AK or AKM which again 15km range but very slow. The rest either has some indigenous development or shit out of luck (UK and US).
However, on maps where helipads are behind cover, the Spike launching ones are more OP.
Fire and forget negates all of the Vikhrs advantages in that situation, no contest.
What? No, its the opposite. I rarely get tank kills with it unless I go for a roof overpressure. Light vehicles you can hit center mass and they will pop.
But it is by no means a mid missile.
Nuh uh, my uncle was in the airforce and he said they LS swapped it and also installed a 6 speed manual transmission, the missle could shift up to conserve fuel, or downshift to increase speed!!
they don’t use no pussy turbo, they slapped an all american supercharger on that thing. Unfortunately the tuning setup is still classified to this day, don’t need another leak on the forums :p
They have a much lower G-pull, are faster, lighter, and pack more of a punch. They are comparable to the late tandem charge hellfires, but the Vikhr/Whirlwind trade maneuverability for speed.
It’s pretty balanced, but it has a VT fuse for when launching above the horizon line to take out airplanes out of range of the Iglas.
It is better than almost everything in every way because of Russian doctrine. If any other country operated it, it wouldn’t work for them because that’s not their doctrine or warfare style.
And you said it yourself, it is in game as it is in real life.
Vikhr:
Penetration: 800mm, same as TOW-2.
Explosive filler equivalent: ~5kg, same as TOW-2.
Range against a static target: 10km, lower than Mokopa same as AKD-10.
Speed: ~600m/s.
So no, they’re not even a top 5 missile.
Saying that Vikhr is the best is classic Russian propaganda.
Mokopa’s the best non-F&F heli AGM.
SPIKEs are the best heli AGM.
Yes, Vikhr’s are still usable, just like AGM-114Bs are usable.
@meki98
They fixed Ka-50 by nerfing it over 5 times.
Its BR was nerfed to its current amount, Ka-50 was the same BR as the best helicopter in the game Rooivalk for a while, its missiles received 3 nerfs from 2019 to 2023, Ka-50 also had its S-13s removed.
Gaijin corrected beam riding in 2023 so they are no longer OP, which is good.
Ka-50 having more accurate missiles than Pantsir is a good thing.
Tell me, how am I supposed to dodge a Vikhr when I just spawned and the Ka-50/52 is 4 clicks away from me, I have about 6-7 seconds to get in cover, which is literally impossible on any map
the f*ck? one is designed to clap fast moving planes out of the air at a range of up to 20km the other slow moving tanks from at most 10km its called atgm for a reason
i know it got nerfed many times that makes it even more ridicules that a vehicle that has been in the game so long still causes havoc 5 years later or almost 5 years wehn talking about the ka52
back then they were adding uk phantoms and m1a2 look at were they are now
Pantsir has never clapped a fast moving plane more than 14km away in War Thunder more than 1% of missile launches, never in my experience of seeing thousands of Pantsirs.
Ka-50 doesn’t cause havoc, and neither does Ka-52.
The lack of spawned SPAA causes issues, and that’s really it.
800mm of pen is enough for any top-tier tank, the same goes for the explosive filler. Yeah you might not get one shots as often as you would with higher caliber missiles like the Hellfire but you still can get the job done easily unless you aim it poorly. Both of the cons you mentioned get absolutely destroyed by the pros of the Vikhr. If you think the Vikhr are just “usable” it’s a huge skill issue on your side
