I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest maybe you’ve forgotten what it’s like to play stock low tier vehicles with a low level crews. As far as your description goes, it’s the only thing that would account for the perceived disparity in vehicle performance.
It’s an unfortunate reality of how the game plays, for new players it doesn’t make a difference, for existing players they take a noticeable performance hit on vehicles they may already own.
you are literally complaining about copy and paste vehicles. there is not a SINGLE difference between the german and the swedish Panzer IV’s and not a single difference between the swedish and soviet T-34. They are the EXACT same, same armor, same shells, same turret speed, same everything. The swedish sherman has the same gun, more armor and a better engine with a better turret rotation than the british and US tech tree shermans at the same br. Maybe it’s a YOU issue? You’re crying and calling literal copy paste vehicles bad. “Ohh this german one is good but this exact same vehicle just in a different tech tree is bad” like what?
Sweden ground can be a bit of a hassle to get through rank 1 and 2. But rank 3 (BR4.0 lineup and the two 5.0 vehicles) is actually kind of good (Strv m/42 DT is a beast if played right). Then rank 4 becomes a small struggle as there really isn’t a good lineup to run. Everything rank 5 and up there is not really anything to complain about and many vehicles are even considered to be among the top performers of their BR.
Also, judging by your stats you aren’t really struggling. you might just be having a unrelated dip in performance.
Maybe. But most of my crews are low, as I’m not very good at the game. Though 9 second reload on a T-34 seems a little bit obscene.
The teams are different.
Except for the massive turret weakspot that everybody exploits.
Yeah I know I’m not good at the game. One look on my stat card shows this.
That was the reason I got the Swedish Sherman. I could not figure out how to use the STRV 41s and Lago 1 etc.
Maybe, but all of my kills come from the occasional full downtier where I get 12 - 13 kills in the Sherman because it’s physically impossible to die there excluding CAS.
True. The only reason I wanted to use the STRV M/41 or whatever it’s called is because it looks pretty :( sadly I can’t be bothered grinding the APDS which after everything you still face 3.7 like Shermans that you can’t even pen…
Sweden is good, it just takes a bit of getting used to. Their low tiers get apds- you have to get used to breech/crew sniping, though it wont last long once you get a bit further up. (260g filler APHE go brrrr)
3.7 has honestly one of the strongest lineups at that BR- SAV 20.12.48, Panzer IV/Pvkv II and Sherman III/IV, though as you dont have the SAV it is probably not as good.
At your BR my personal recommendation is to go for the 4.0 lineup- the III/IV is good enough you can bring it there. At that BR you get the T-34, Pvkv II/Panzer IV, Pvkv M/43 and Ikv 103 to boot.
Strengths around that BR are the wonderful optics of the Pvkvs and all-around good gun depression, and the reliability of the trio of mediums.
One thing you must learn now, however, is that armor is never to be relied upon, and that you should treat your tank as if it was paper.
Yeah, it takes a bit o getting used to. Once you do get used to it, it is wonderful, though.
Once you get APHE it becomes very good, without it it is meh at best. Low tier swedes really have the stock issue- though once you get to top tier you will find yourself pleasantly suprised on that front.
Sweden is not bad. It does have some vehicles that are quite rough, notably the early tank destroyer line is pretty bad, but it has a lot of good stuff too. The Strv m/42 DT is pretty good, the Pvkv II is absolutely amazing and makes a great lineup with the Finnish Pz. IV H, and you can also throw the Pvkv m/43 (1946) in there as a lineup filler. 5.7 is good with the Strv 74, and T–34-85, and Comet I. 6.7 is quite good with the Pbv 501 and Bkan 1C, and if you have the Kungstiger it becomes a monster lineup. And almost all of high tier is extremely good.
Technically not true, the finnish t34’s were copy pasted with the add on armor weight for their weight while not having the armor so they are slower as they both weight 200kg more. I wouldnt count the track armor on the front hull or the front track guards since they dont really effect it but those are Technically worse. I think a few other copy paste vehicles have this when the original vehicle has add on armor and the other tank is missing it.
I think this is a bit pessimistic, TL;DR some tanks are definitely easier to pick up and do well with, more specialised vehicles need more time to cook, but the benefit is that their quirks can be leveraged to a greater extent.
I think most players will need about 75 battles to really get a feel for the tank. I have a habbit of a player’s stats when they are having an exceptional game on my team or the enemy, and generally speaking they’ll have vehicles with upwards of 500 kills. All this is to say that you can’t understate how important experience is. What’s also important is understand that sometime you’re up against player that have 8-9 years of experience.
